Trying to BREAK PAR using a FULL SET OF HYBRID IRONS!!! When playing golf we always want to make it as easy as possible for ourselves. But when it comes to buying the most forgiving golf clubs we don’t even consider it half of the time. Using hybrid golf clubs can really make golf easier. The best hybrid of 2022 differs for each person. And the most forgiving hybrid golf club does also. In this video I play golf using the Wilson Launch Pad 2 irons… or should I say FULL SET OF HYBRID IRONS… can we break par? Let’s find out… and let’s do it now!

One of my golf buddies bought this exact set a few months ago. He's struggled with iron consistency the last few years and hits it "fat" quite often. He's already dropped from a ~25 handicap to 18 in just a few months with these irons. He regularly shoots in the 80s now and it's really good to see him enjoy the game more. These aren't going to completely fix a bad swing but they do make the miss hits less detrimental for sure.
@jeremyg9240
@jeremyg9240 2 жыл бұрын
@@TWTexasA1 He's about 45. But he didn't start golfing till his late 30s. He doesn't have the prettiest swing lol but it works for him. These wilson clubs are actually great clubs especially for higher handicaps that want more control and consistency. They aren't gonna be great for single digit handicap guys. But the average guy that shoots 90+ every round will definitely see the benefits.

@@TWTexasA1 I'm 71 and in early spring of 2021 purchased a set of graphite regular shafted Cleveland Turbo Launcher Hybrid irons, because I had been losing distance and not able to hit the high ball. This set did help with both, I'm hitting the ball higher and longer and getting away with what would be a fat shot with regular irons. In my case newer tech has helped and I'm glad I made the buy. PS these Wilson Irons might be just a good for me as the Cleveland hybrid irons I purchased turned out to be.

@@Blakuscus I disagree. I do a lot of practice at the range and I would put 90 percent of the golfers I see in clubs like that. It's actually the older guys, that grew up playing blades, and are used to thinner soled clubs and how they move through the dirt, that are fine with blades up to a 6-iron and then hybrids and 7-woods when they run out of speed.

So I’ll say this. I have the Wilson LP 2020 irons and I love them! 34 years old with 90-100mph swing speed. I broke 90 for the first time ever with these and even shot as low as +11. I absolutely love these irons. The best part for me to is the chipping. My PW is so easy to bump and run it’s ridiculous. I just started golfing in 2020 and did a lot of research. So glad I got these and would highly recommend them!

I'm 58 and have been playing for 30 years. Now with a bad back and knees (I'm a floor layer) icant swing like I used to. I've been playing Cleveland launcher clubs for around 3 years and love them, however, I got measured up for a set of Wilson Launch pad 2 and have been gaming them around 2 months now and these clubs are on another level. Sure you still need a lob wedge in the bag especially for tight lies but anyone out there that are looking at these irons you will not regret it. Thanks again James for another fab video. By-the-way I recon Foxey will nail these clubs!

First time out with the clubs, nothing longer than a 5 iron (24 degrees?). Pretty good performance, especially when you consider that you really didn't have a good feel for how far the individual clubs fly, and you put yourself at a disadvantage on the longer holes.

Using senior shafts, graphite. I am in the camp of use ANYTHING that helps you enjoy the game more or improves the score! Why not? I also agree, for young folks new to the game, use irons and learn the game first. For the fossils like myself? Game improvement equipment is a plus.

I'm 54 and got back into golf after a 20-year hiatus (was never that good and used trash clubs before lol). So I went with these and they are no magic bullet, but they certainly are forgiving and light. I'm quite a bit better than before, but I'm not sure how much of it is due to these clubs, and how much is due to having access to a lot more "free golf lessons" on youtube that has helped my mechanics. I suspect it's a lot of both. I also use the LP2 driver and hybrids (3-4-5). You could switch clubs down the road, but you could also play with these for the long haul too.

I'm glad you're doing reviews of SGI clubs and from Wilson too! Too many KZfaq golfers only do big brands and players irons that only fit a small percentage of golfers. One question: everyone says GI and SGI clubs are not workable. I don't understand the physics of those statements. Drawing or fading the ball is a result of swing path vs club face direction. Flighting the ball lower or higher results from shaft lean and ball position (forward or backward in the stance). None of that has anything to do with sole or face size. You proved you could shape the ball (both on purpose and by accident). So are all those who claim GI and SGI clubs are not workable just ignorantly regurgitating hype or am I not understanding what they mean by workable? The only physics I can really see is that the CG of a hybrid is further back and the CG of an iron is further forward. In drivers and fairway woods that affects spin and forgiveness. Shouldn't physics and math apply equally the same to hybrid/irons? Please explain the "not workable" perception.

Working at a golf course I had recommending super expensive clubs to so many new players, ladies, seniors, or even long time golfers I know just don't work on their game. These might very well become my recommendation for these categories. Well, as long as boss doesn't find out I'm not pushing more expensive names. Great video James these are one of the sets I am considering buying as I need to get something that suits my sweepy swing and help me get that extra height into greens. Really liked the 9 hole format as gives you opportunity to give clubs proper outing and us to see there performance

I’ve just got a set of Launch Pad 2 irons 5-SW in regular graphite. My iron play has been shocking and I mainly used a Ping ChipR from 100 metres out and didn’t even carry a 5 iron. Played my first round with the clubs and improved around 8-10 shots on what I have been scoring. Used the wedges for the first time in ages. No thin or fat shots and I hit a beautiful 5 iron to 10 feet as my second on a par 4. I love these clubs already. The funny thing is I have tried hybrids before and hate them. I tend to hit them low and left but these fly high and straight.

what i learned about these irons is that you should not try to swing too hard. because each time you tried to get some extra you hooked it.

These look like a good back up club for those days when you are at the range prior to your round and everything is a disaster.

Yes, I enjoy the longer videos. I agree with the other posters that it would be interesting to see Foxy's reaction using these clubs.

Video was great! Always wondered how much you could get away with using a full set of hybrids.

I quite enjoy the longer format video. Wouldn’t want it all the time, but I enjoyed this one. Have always been intrigued by the hybrid irons. Nice to see a review. Cheers!

I'd love to see you invite some other KZfaq golfers as guests sometime, James. Love the longer videos now and again too.

Yes, enjoying this longer video since it is a review of the irons. Hard to judge after a few holes.

Thanks for the video! I'm considering purchasing these irons and have found it difficult to find reviews of these clubs as thorough as a 9 hold video! Watched the whole video!
