I worked the load in and out for his Winston Salem show in 2012 on December 22 and he made a point to come out and shake all of the crew’s hands and tell us how much he appreciated our help and had his manager take down our shirt sizes. Then at the end of the night after we had finished loading out his manager handed everyone that worked the load in and out an autographed head shot and a crew t-shirt. He is a class act!👍👍👍👍

Ive heard this song a thousand times but everytime i hear it its like its the first time and all the emotions i,ve surpressed and feelings come fucking barging out. this is the first time i saw Jamie Johnsons father sing with him and well i broke out in crazy ass emotions cause i lost my father in the vietnam war in which he was also a Marine. Love yeah Pops guard those Pearly Gates in heaven 1 Day I cant wait to join you.

Exactly the same with me. You said it so well. Thirty three years law enforcement. Seen some bad stuff and I know you have too. Thanks for serving. Mom is gone and dad's not doing so well either nowadays. Thank you for your comments. Don't know you but your comment is exactly what this song does to me too. We'll meet someday. God bless.

Beautifully written even with the F-bombs. LOL. My husband is a retired 30 year Marine, Master Gunnery Sargent. My stepson was in the Air Force and when he came to live with us, those two couldnt say two words without saying, F this and F that. That being said, both are fine examples of what a true man should be. Love and admire both dearly. My husband and I both love Jamey Johnson and Eric Church. My favorite is Jamey though. I remember crying the first time I heard his song, "The high cost of living high." Don't think that's exactly right, but that song explained my brother without exception.

In 1935 on a dust bowl wheat farm in Colorado my Dad held his Momma as she died in his arms. He was 11. Dad went to WWII on a Merchant Marine ship then to Korea. He was at the Yalu River when the Chinese came across the bridges. That winter you could see his breathe. He married my Mom in 55. Her eyes were green. In Color touches the deepest parts of my ancestry and soul. God Bless Ya'll Jamie and his Father. POW turns till Death.

I hope and pray that I get to see my best friend again one day.

Love this song!!! First time I heard I was driving and crying my eyes out. Brought back memories of a special vet!!
@philsmidwestclassiccars1503 жыл бұрын
So many Vets are special. They all had stories but most were seldom told. WW I, WW II, not many left now. Vietnam, yes, they were hero's too. I got 2 DD Form 214's, 1976-1980 & 1981-1985. My service seen no wars. Thank God. Always support the Vets. The wars we fight today are somewhat different in a lot of peoples eye's. But to the solider, it's still always the same "Kill the Enemy" or "Get Killed". From that standpoint nothing much has changed. Great song. It brings tears to my eyes also Crystal. I love the song & Jamey singing here with his dad or with his daughters is so cool. That is family, sticking together. So much can be learned from that.

Wow- crying my eyes out watching this. I've loved this song since it first came out but it's one of those that I can't listen to very often because it reminds me of someone very dear to me. Legally he was my brother in law. He married my sister that was 16 years older than me so I knew him from my earliest memories. He came from a poor family actually a little more poor than we was. He left for Vietnam when he was 18 and he said he almost missed the bus from Memphis to leave to go to Nam waiting to see if I was going to be a boy or girl. He told me that story a thousand times. Wish I could hear it just one more time. R.I.P. Howard Leon Sanders 💙 Obviously as I grew to be a man I always forget to mention the in law part when I would introduce him or tell people about him. He was one of my heroes and always will be.

And here is an amazing example of a son taking his dad thru each step sharing the memories of the spoils of making his dreams a reality, of their dreams coming true. Priceless.
