The year 2020 marks 35 years of continuous and dedicated hard work of Shaykh Muhammad Imdad Hussain Pirzada, who founded the institution of Jamia Al-Karam back in 1985 in the city of Milton Keynes then, which is now located at Eaton Hall in Retford, rural Nottinghamshire.
Shaykh Pirzada was 40 years old according to the Hijri calendar at the time, and after touring the world and serving Islam and the Muslim community in numerous capacities, he came to the realisation that the future of Islam and the Muslim community in Britain, as well as in Europe as a whole, lies in the transmission of sacred knowledge and Islamic scholarship to the next generation here, and the nurturing and training of the young people of Britain here, to be the leaders of the future and the makers of their own destiny with knowledge and faith. Recognising this duty upon his generation of migrant scholars, this became the purpose of Shaykh Pirzada’s life.
To mark the 35th year of Jamia Al-Karam, the brief speech of Shaykh Pirzada is presented here which he gave at the conclusion of the official opening ceremony of Jamia Al-Karam that was held in the main hall of The Radcliffe School in Wolverton, Milton Keynes, on 17th March 1985. A scholar embarked upon the mission of his life with deep vision and foresight, great clarity of purpose, complete dedication and courage in the face of odds and hurdles, and indeed with profound trust in the will of Almighty Allah and love for the religion propagated by His Messenger Muhammad (upon him be peace).
35 years later, the words are as relevant as they were the day they were uttered. The consistency of the message and of the efforts of the preacher of that message is evident. May Almighty Allah grant Shaykh Pirzada a long and healthy life, and may He grant fruits to the tree that Shaykh Pirzada planted the seed of and watered continuously with the toil of his inner and outer abilities.
