Seeing this after watching the documentary is crazy. it's like all the pieces are coming together. you can see in his impersonation of kanye at the party that kanye was super nervous 'cause, as mentioned in the documentary, he couldn't get any studio time from the Roc. So working with Jamie turned out to be a huge win-win.

All these old interviews and clips of people talking about Kanye feels really really different after watching jeen-yus. It feels so surreal to see all of these moments click and witness it with your own eyes. All other incidents and everything else aside, Kanye is a true true true musician and hustler. One of, if not the best.

@@fredalt I think it was Breakin' All The Rules which released in 2004 same year as Collateral and Ray. That one flopped more than when the other two didn't. Collateral was Jamie's highest praised performance, his acting was phenomenal, one of my all-time Foxx fav with Ray and Ray was second to it, but BATR was the first film he released that year. 2004 made me feel worse bc my mum passed that year. I remember watching both box-office hits later in my teen years. I was 12yo when these films came out. But I think it was BATR was the so-called bad movie he made by the looks of the reception and reaction he got from film creditors who thought it was lacking personality and a ton chemistry. Story was bland and the cast were all over the place from what I remember from watching it the other day.

I can say that I agree his point; West has completely changed the hip-hop industry, being ahead of the curve constantly and inspiring other younger artists as they come up.
