They’ve had one full season with him, and won the treble…I don’t know how people can say they’re better without him! He completely changes the way the opponents play and defend, even if he doesn’t touch the ball

I mean, City always win. It's very difficult to make a point in favor of Haaland by saying he's made them win more. What you are essentially saying is that not having Haaland in 2022 is why Rodrygo scored two late goals against City. Or why Pep decided to not play a DM in 2021 against Chelsea. I mean this as a compliment to City: they don't need Haaland to win. However, he still provides them different options when they attack.

As a neutral, people need to understand that very few teams match up against City like Brighton did today. Luton attempted to play toe to toe with City in the FA Cup and got absolutely destroyed with Halaand scoring 5 goals in the match. The problem both Halaand and Alvarez face is virtually ever opponent City faces plays extreme low blocks. People are so focused on just Haaland that they haven’t realized Alvarez has now only scored twice since January despite playing nearly 1,000 minutes. Because opponents are squeezing both Alvarez and Halaand out of the game and making it 11v9 matches in an extremely small area of the pitch. People need to actually understand tactics before blindly bashing Haaland. How Brighton played today was not only an anomaly for a City opponent but the type of open space match that Haaland would have feasted in.

Pep finds a way regardless. The way the city teams he’s had have changed so much and they’ve continued to dominate is astonishing. They had fast wingers out wide like Sane and Sterling flanking Aguero, then it changed to the less quick but more skilful types like Mahrez Grealish out wide, playing a false 9, then having an out and out 9 like Haaland. Bottom line is it doesn’t matter

Not this again! I am not a fan of Haaland, but this is just a radio station looking for engagement. Many times, I have said that Haaland has only made City different, not better. In general play, they are not as fluid as they used to be. However, it's a stretch to say they're better without him. The truth is that City are so good that Rodri is probably the only player they'd miss throughout a season, and that's because they don't have a proper back up for him.

In a way, Haaland is possibly a better option because he lets the other players do their jobs. Kane, at least at Spurs, in the latter seasons, made having a #10 kind of redundant. City are better without the epl goal record breaker?? Alvarez has very poor games but since hes not haaland he doesnt get anywhere near the scrutiny our fanbase know it on twitter When last did alvarez score before yesterday?? His ball control is also poor as well, haaland would benefit from a city playing him through alot more, and his finishing has been off this season for sure And i think pep should incorporate a system where we can catch teams in transition cuz that would greatly benefit haaland
@MCFCTheMadHatter
@MCFCTheMadHatter 11 күн бұрын
The same high line that Pep uses which opens City up to the counter also plays to Haaland’s weaknesses bc when combined with the slow buildup play, it allows opposition defense and team to flood the box thereby robbing Haaland of space which also makes it much more difficult for city attack to score. The RM game at City exposed this issue perfectly. Whatever the opposition defense can’t stop Haaland from doing, City’s slow buildup and constant ignoring Haaland when he has the space to make runs completely nullifies him. If Pep continues to play in this manner, Haaland should leave for a team that plays aggressive counter attacking football where they can play to his strengths. Imagine Haaland playing for RM with all the chances they spurned at the Bernabeau when they caught City on the counter? Or what he would do in a team like LFC with their aggressive fast breaks etc. City used to do that here and there last season, but seems like they’ve forgotten to do it. Yes Haaland can should do more, but to expect him drop deep and link up the okay like Kane is absurd. He’s not that guy and if that’s what City wanted, they should’ve just bought Kane. but If City isn’t going to set up to maximize his Haaland’s inherent strengths, then what’s the point of having him?

They measure better in almost every metric without Haaland in the team. More points, goals, possession and less conceded. So without doubt technically they are a better side when he doesn't play. They are certainly better to watch. The problem for Haaland is he isn't suited to City's style at all. At time he looks an absolute passenger. All 3 of them have have been jostling for the spot at the top more than once but as it stands, I feel that Liverpool have squandered what should have been a runaway season for them but it's all falling apart. It's not a question it's a fact. He may be a great goalscorer but he's a woeful footballer. A one trick pony who offers nothing else on the pitch.

City have Mancunian fans shocker. Unlike when Utd fans and Liverpool fans call in and they’re from down south.

I said months ago, City are better without Haaland. When Haaland is in the team the rest of the players have to work harder to win the ball back because he’s very half hearted closing down his opponents. Defenders have now worked him out too, that’s why he doesn’t score so many these days, especially against the better teams. If he’s not scoring, his contribution is very little. Most of the goals he scored last season were more or less put on a plate. I believe he’ll be gone soon.

Yes, they’re better without him. If he play today they probably barely win 2:1

Its what seperates pep from alot of managers, hes not afraid to change it up when the pressure is on. He can always find a way to win and not be afraid to drop a top striker like haaland. Yeah he has the weapons, but it's all about execution.

@richardmatai7425 Haaland wasn’t dropped. He’s been out injured the past two matches after getting injured in the Madrid match.

@@Photosoflife k fair enough but even so when Pep has a problem he doesn't flinch, just deal with it and move on. Its what i believe seperates him from Klopp. Alot of time Klopp was a moaner, i just think now hes out to energy to say anything anymore.

@@user-xu4xj2cd2j yeah stuff like match schedules hes complained. But he doesnt use it as an excuse for defeat. Klopp sometimes not always does blame other things for his losses. Pep just gets on with it.
We Need To Talk About Haaland.
