He says that you don’t have to be convicted of insurrection to be discredited as a candidate. He said that insurrectionists from the Civil War did not have to be proven guilty. That is a false equivalence, because the two things are not the same January 6 and the Civil War were not the same, and as such as using another logical fallacy. All in all he is very knowledgeable and intelligent but his arguments are very flawed. This makes him dangerous because he presents his arguments as if they are absolutely true.

You should listen to the arguments and questions to the supreme court over these questions. Raskin is not deep diving on this subject from the legal standpoint or relevant case law. Raskin is also misrepresenting many nuances of these questions.

In Illinois (and some other states) you can only vote for a write in candidate if they have filed to be a write in. Otherwise, your vote does not count.
