@@josef5319 Not always how that works, I'm in the towing and recovery business, And first off not everyone pays for tows or recoveries, we are often left with junk vehicles that aren't paid for in our normal work and we don't even break even after scrapping some, others we do break even, some we make a hell of a profit off of because they left us a car that we could actually sell or fix up and sell and it was worth it, but in our normal work sometimes we are left unpaid and out some money. Outside of our normal work some of us do decide to help our community in little or big ways without pay, First that comes to mind is charity events and things of that nature, Our company has blocked roads for numerous events for our community, Our company assisted when trump once came to our town, our truck stayed on standby for the police and secret service incase they needed a vehicle moved, Our truck has also supported a specific charity for a fallen police officer for years now and we all have his badge number on our trucks have for years, we have donated to said charity, And I do believe we have used our truck to assist in a few charity events although I am not sure, We have not been and never expected to be paid for any of those... Next, a few of us operators help people we find who have problems on the side of the road or at gas stations, parking lots, etc and we help them out despite the fact that w were not called out, and sometimes it actually ends up biting us in the ass... I have done a jumpstart for a guy at a gas station, I've done a lockout for a guy at walmart, I've sat on the side of the road and helped a guy cut down a stuck spare tire and get back on the road, I charged for none of those, A local company we have a good relationship with stopped recently to help a guy get his car out of the road with a jump pack, He told the guy he could pull into a nearby lot with the jump pack to get him out of the road as his alternator died, and the guy took off on him with his jump pack, That is a good example of it biting us in the ass, Despite that fact I still help my community pretty often free of charge in addition to my normal work that I do charge for. Don't come spreading hate not all tow companies do but some of us do good for our community without expecting pay out of the kindness of our hearts.. Now I don't know whether jamie was paid for his actions in this video, I don't know if any of his employees got paid for their actions in this video, What I do know is he didn't have to do what he did but he did so anyway, that is respectable, And if he got paid so be it, Although i'm not real sure who would have paid in this situation, Idk about canada but police departments in the US don't pay for any work outside of work for their own vehicles and work that goes to their facilities, Otherwise customer or insurance pays, And seeing as I don't see him billing each person as they cross like it's a toll bridge i'm going to go ahead and say no one paid for that.

First off my company for example doesn't do unrequested tows other than impounds in which case you already fucked up to the point where it's your fault you got impounded, We don't do private propery impounds, We don't do repos, As for a normal tow our fees are very low compared to what you listed, 75 to load 3.50 a mile, plus tax, Impound storage fees is 25 per day, If you leave it in our lot that's your choice but youre also on the hook for additional storage fees, We don't have a gate fee either... Now tell me why we should all go to hell because you had 1 bad experience with 1 company in a completely different area? Oh yeah I forgot you are an idiot.

I'm retired from the Towing industry but I personally thank you for thanking us good, decent owner operators and hired operators. For myself it was always about helping people at the worst of times on the side of a roadway..

Your actions don’t create a standard. Just because you donate your time sometimes doesn’t mean that others do, nor does it imply that this is what happened here. My main objection is when you see a bunch of replies assuming this was done for free, when there is absolutely zero evidence proving this.

Why does it matter if Jamie was compensated? I don't understand why anyone would care. I guess that's where their minds are. Because the police (RCMP) were in scene, it is possible that Jamie was called. That's a remote road and it is possible that those stranded people called for assistance (if they had cell coverage). It is possible under extreme circumstances such as human life safety that the province will reimburse Jamie. SAR is mostly donation funded, however, when it's a provincially maintained road, that changes things. There's probably $5000 job there. Did he get paid? Unknown. But I speculate that he didn't just happen on the scene. He was most likely called to assist. Now there is one way to know for sure. Let's ask him. LoL. I'm sure that it's an interesting story that people like myself would like to hear. Incidents like this are always the biggest challenges with the best storeys.
