Wow, just discovered this, and the timing for finding this couldn’t have been better. I’m 22, and despite losing my job from covid, I decided it was time to make massive change in my life, so a couple weeks ago I moved across the US with only three suit cases and a couple thousand. I feel like the song/video perfectly embody that inexplicable feeling you get when you’re maintaining so much hope for so long without even having a concrete reason to, but you do anyway. To hear this for the first time in my first (empty) apartment 2,500 miles from home was absolutely surreal, and feels like it just marked the start of something new. Maybe this is an overshare, but I can’t think of another video that touched me the way this one did and just thought I’d share the experience 🙂

@@leonidbelenko7632 I think mother nature can destroy us all in about 5 days. Everything powerful can be used for good and evil. That's completely up to us... Be the change you want to see type shit. This video was shot in China where this conversation isn't allowed. Where people survive on 2000 USD a year. They live on the edge of destruction every day. There is no social security or welfare. If you get hurt at work you're done. Your friends and family is all you have. We've just forgotten the good part of human nature. Greed has replaced compassion in our lives. We all are born with gifts and if we find the people like us with the same gifts we can sharpen those skills. Money is a necessary evil. There are FAR greater values in this world of abundance. Humans are under a self induced evil spell. More and more and more. You got to flex like a MF'er I guess. I feel you but I'm so grateful my glass is half empty. No glass at all would be tough. We did all this, good and bad. Humans.... Life has gotten significantly easier for us all. Just 300 years ago people were far more destructive. I think when the earthquake comes and THE storm hits after the massive hit from the sun🌞... I personally think the CME is going to be bigger than anything we ever thought possible. I think liquid olivine is going to rain out of the sky. I think the power lines are going to glow incandescent red and burn down everything around them. When the poles flip, I think together will be the only way to survive, step out of line and 💀. The balance will return. I think the watchers are about done watching.😒 I think religion will have a hard time when no one is twinkled up to heaven. No cloud wizard comes to save their book club. A new religion will form that respects all beliefs. Compassion will rule for thousands of years. We're going to have to suffer first. *I know nothing, these are my opinions.

This piece of music echoes throughout the universe when a big moment has arisen upon the horizon for humanity and earth at large. May us all rejoice during this sublime, visceral and remarkable experience - one of enlightenment, fulfillment and reletentless triumph. May God bless you all, my friends, in this beautiful universe we call life. At the end, when all is said and done, we are together - and then we'll be okay, and all will be okay.

there was something so surreal about when this came out. The time. It seems to capture a unique vibe from then. The progressive beats and sound to the point where its right in your ear, gives this eery feeling of hope and love for that time. 2010-2014 ish. i graduated highschool in 2014 and not shortly after began finding more and more artists like this in electronic and dance etc... Future type music... one day i will be in my eighties and most likely hear this song and tear up.

The director of this video said ultimately it is about a young man starting to wake up spiritually while everyone around him, and society remains asleep. The end half is him leaving everyone behind him as he begins to embark on a new journey. The blonde look alike children represent the universe supporting him and his journey, and is sort of like a send off. Probably the most beautiful video ive ever seen.

For those who have not understood anything in the meaning of this clip. In many countries in sub-Saharan Africa, people with albinism are regularly victims of homicide, they are targets of ritual killings. i lived in africa for 4 years, the population rejects albinism. The number of person albinism that I could meet in the street unemployed proves that they are rejected by the population. I am very proud to see artists defending abinism. They are people like you and me. I hope this clip will change the mentalitys for the liberty for equality

Just because you lived there doesn't mean you get it. How cool another post calling others fools. Keep your cursing to yourself. If you think there is a hint that shows that Africa is mentioned as a country, look through again. I have had friends that have been rejected by whites and friends that have been rejected by blacks. This thing with superficial layers of flesh colour has been holding progress of the world back, for way too long. My post was a comment to GAB RU, to whom my reply to is, rather than the video. GAB RU has mentioned a fact: people with albinism are regularly victims of homicide. If you relate my reply and focus more, probably then you will relate my reply to the subject of discussion rather to the viedo itself. So please pay attention before calling others fools. Have a good day.

This piece of music is the embodiment of an event happening, so massive that almost everything around you was building around to said moment. This piece provides an unbelievable emotion which I can't describe - one in which is sublime, beautiful, and visceral, full of the knowledge that in my life, or for humanity, something big is on the horizon. We are on the verge of a third world war, a new international era - whether it's the conflict between the U.S., Russia and China this year, or the hope we all feel moving on from current times, Jamie xx's Gosh forms the dichotomy between a relentless triumph of hope and a dreaded sense of chaos subsuming: it captures the phenomenon that is our global lives, and the massive events entailed within it. If you asked me, what record depicts the world the absolute most accurately at this current time - it would be this one.

You're probably wondering why these kids are running around an albino. In Asia, albinos are considered sacred people. By the way, it's my favorite song now...

This tune and video gives me a very good satisfaction of melancholy. I love it. Thank you Jamie xx and Romain.

I remember Jamie playing this at Falls Festival 2014, some 4-5 months before it got a release. Standing on the hill looking down at the stage with my girlfriend at the time, peaking my head off, almost in tears just in awe of how good it sounded, that bass vibrating through my chest. Good memories lol

So good. I know that feeling so well. I’m in WA and we had Southbound which was the same line up as Falls. Best days of my life. 👍👍

It is truly stunning. It doesn't even look like a music video, it's more like a big budget sci fi event!

This song just makes me think about what it is to be human. It makes me think of those around me, and those that came before me, and idk why but this song helps me appreciate people I normally don’t give much thought to. Maybe when you slow down you can appreciate things you normally wouldn’t, and this song helps me with that.

Those synth lead melodies toward the end are so good, especially with the fat bass synth droning underneath. IMO 2:58 onward is totally awesome. Sort of vaguely reminds me of the intro to that Orbital track "Belfast".

That's because Jamie XX took inspiration from Orbital - Belfast for this track :D

@@zaephou2843 That makes SO much sense! Greatly explains the very emotional chords here too.
