Jamming with the mighty Bass Station II

It's been a while since I used my Bass Station II. When I turned it on a couple of days ago, it sounded more saturated than the normal. I think it needs to be serviced, but I've decided to record this jam before fixing it's audio output, because sometimes saturation is good.

Mine is so old it is tearing appart and sometimes it behaves unpredictably, but I'll keep it until it's last days.

Cool video! I have narrowed it down to this Synth, and the Korg Minilogue XD. This one seems a little easier to navigate. Thanks!

Bear in mind this synth is MONOPHONIC while Minilogue XD is polyphonic, which means you can play chords on it.

Also can play paraphonic. ;) Yes, it’s not chords, but at least you can play two notes simultaneously. And the second the most useful thing, you can use 3 oscillators to make chord sounding patterns =) By the way, nice jam! Love my BS2 too ;)

The BS always lacks bass frequencies IMO. I'm going to try a bass processor on mine.

I don’t really know. I have tons of drum samples I’ve been collecting through the years and I have just picked snare and kick for this video.

This Bass Station II has all the classic mods (repairs). The missing crap on the wheels, the replaced knobs and the yellowing keyboard. must be a least 2 years old 😬

I did nothing. The black rubber around them started cracking and tearing appart so I had to rip them off.

It is a very simple Ableton Live session with only 3 channels: a midi channel so I can loop the Bass Station, the second channel has a drum rack with a kick and a snare only, and the third channel has a couple of hihat loops.

Original knobs broke apart. Apparently it is something that happens with this synth. It was out of warranty so I decided to use better and more good looking knobs. Bought these from Dj Tech Tools.

did you find out why it sounded more "saturated?" It shouldn't need to warm up

Yes. There is something wrong with its audio output. It needs to be repaired. After a short period of saturated audio, it went quiet and now it is silent. I’m currently using its headphone output until I get it fixed.
