The 1982 Final was an extremely close match Waldner lost 19-21 in the 5th I think. Wish I could see the 1988 and 1991 matches you talked about but they are hard to find. I was lucky to see Walder play in Atlanta in 1995 but he got pissed after loosing to Cheng Yinghua. He then stopped trying and lost all subsequent matches including to Philip Saive and Tierry Cabrerra. Amazingly, that same year he won both matches in the team tie against China, in China. Beat Wang Tao and Ma Wenge

Appelgren won the European championship in Ghotenburg two months later and won gold in team and single competition If im not mistaken he didnt loose any match in the team competition.

@zzzuppp I have almost the whole semifinal,they started viewing when they played abaout 10 points of the second game,And yes i have the whole final appelgren mazunov.I will upload them as soon as i can.but the quality is very bad, it was recorded with a videocamera at the tv when i was 13 years old.

@olaniyi570 Yes i remember that final. yes u are right abaout that the apple won many important matches against waldner,he won world cup, euroean final 1982, european semifinal 1988 and swedish open semifinal 1991 against waldner but waldner has more wins but it is close.

I have the European semi from 1988 but it is very bad quality.and some clips from 1991.i will upload many clips with waldner,persson,appelgren,soon. i have so many clips with them, never seen on youtube before.

Applgren and Jorgen have always been difficult style players for Waldner. When Waldner plays more robotic offensive players such as the chinese he does very well. If Waldner was Federer, Appelgren is like a Murray, keeps the ball in plays waits for a unforced error.

Yes the same year! I think Waldner beat Appelgren 30-1 for a grand prize of $20.000. Appelgren got 10 grand for 2nd.
