*1. Keys aren't located properly on the panel they are all over the place* This is perfectly normal. The panel is set as to present on same row all keys having an identical profile group. This help and assists during QC at it is then easier to catch misprints or profile errors. *2. Removing keys from back panel is difficult* True. That's why the panel presents holes beneath it to facilitate and push keys gently out. *3. Used font isn't 100% identical to original keys* True. Throughout Commodore and Escom lifetime different Amiga models had different font styles. For ease of QC we used only one font style on printing panels. It's easier to catch misprints that way through the different QC processes. We also thought NOT to provide 100% identical labels - this might be a shocking surprise to some but it is to avoid EBAY scalpers trying to sell those NOS when they're not! We know some Amiga enthusiasts might get upset because of this. We think the font isn't a real big issue when you look at the keyboard. Very much like our A500 and A1200 cases, there are differences and while that is on purpose they're subtle enough not to break the original feel of experience. *4. Pipe symbol not identical from original keys.* True & Wrong. Pipe symbol can be plain on some different layouts / computer models. To avoid complicated QC with layouts we kept the full pipe as it is mostly used on nowadays keyboards. Here's an A500+ with full pipe. i.ytimg.com/vi/DOtKG-BVrz0/maxresdefault.jpg However Pipe key on Jan Beta set IS a bit off! *5. Sys Rq label is not printed* This is normal and by design. Sys Rq doesn't exist on all Amiga keyboards and is even differentiated by language layouts/computer models *6. Some labels are slightly angled* We're still working on that. While it seems something trivial to get 100% perfect labels - it is not. Amiga keys are high concave keys and getting perfect pad printing on those is quite a task. We do however think those are far better than early 2019 printed labels. *7. Caps Lock key is the only double-shot key on the new set.* Pretty much sums it up. *8. Bracket or Chevrons keys inversion* Believe it or not there are 7 people involved with reviewing layouts. And two of these assist QC on prod. site! (not team) Don't ask why this issue came out - We don't have the slightest idea. It just happened. It is only when you actually create something that you're prone to issues. Manufacturer has been notified. Please note: This IS going to be fixed. Replacement are in the loop already. ALL contributors WILL get replacement Bracket or Chevrons keys through their RMI account. ALL other Amiga enthusiasts will be able to claim replacement from within their account on our site. *9. Keys with stabilizers are a bit stiffer than originals.* This is normal. Give them 30yo of use and no more stiffness. Joke apart, original keys white adapters for stabilizers had a bit of grease on them back on the day. Nowadays you can add a bit of lubricant and this should do the trick. *10. Label printing technique is different than original Commodore keys - labels will wear off.* *10bis. "legends will fade, it's not a question of if, but rather when. If they were double-shot, they wouldn't."* Wrong. Labels won't wear off unless you want them to. Our keys are printed the exact same way as original Commodore keys - using pad printing - and those didn't wear off. The difference you see on our label is due to how coat is done. Coat on new keys is different from the one we produced in 2019 which tried to be 100% compliant to original. Now we use nowadays coat technique. It is more controlled. There is pretty much no bleed on coat. *11. Space bars springs & white adapters for stabilizers* We do not provide smaller springs for space bars. We do not provide the larger white adapters for space bars either. (this is why black space bars sits lower on Jan's keyboard) Reasons: For standard springs we had a large enough QTY to create a custom tool to get our springs manufactured _(yes custom tool for springs even)_ however not enough QTY for smaller springs. Also large white adapters required an additional mold _(no more surface on current ones)_. This would have raised up the whole set another 10$. Please use the original large adapters for space bars. *12. Not enough white adapters* Jan Beta used the wrong white adapters on the Space Bar - hence not having enough for the keypad :) *13. Some keys feel like a bit more on the loose than original keys.* Original keyboards are 30yo - wear and tear on plastic isn't a weird thing after so long. Even more on those having done retrobrighting. However differences mostly come from ALL Mitsumi Hybrid keyboards *weren't made identical 100%*. Commodore and Escom/IT used several different providers back in the days. While all providers were most certainly given the same technical requests, slight variations came to existence on the overall spectrum. As such on some keyboards our keys might not stick as strongly as original while on others keys might stick slightly firmer While these occurrences exists they don't appear as often as one might think. We designed the keys as to be usable on 99.9% of Mitsumi Hybrid Commodore Escom/IT keyboards. Few of Amiga Enthusiasts WILL still meet with issues. 100% isn't sadly reachable. *14. RETURN/ENTER key sticks on my keyboard after replacing* This again is due to a variation. If you face this, your keyboard is certainly a very early model. White adapters mounts in keys are slightly off in terms of alignment from the other models As such and to correct it you can gently file the adapters to get rid of some of their length. New keycaps plastic feels better/is better plastic compared to original keys.* That is because the plastic density on our keys is slightly higher. However, new keys and original keys have the same weight. *17. Not happy because black keycaps are available on the website while I'm still waiting for my keys.* We know there is a misunderstanding regarding this and we apologize for it. Only black keys are available on our shop while dispatch to contributors is now almost totally done. For other colors, we'll proceed the same way : Dispatch to contributors while non-contributors will get keys from our site at same time. We do not have much choice as we had to produce additional sets for non-contributors. And we had to do this right now because of the production queues we're still in. Because the pandemic and how the world changed following it, we had to adapt. As contributors you should know that since we shared this extensively through updates. *18. "The printing looks cheap to me .... my keycaps aren't printed on, the letters are hollowed out and clear resin is poured in from underneath"* What you describe are double shot keys. Cost for an Amiga keycaps set like this would be way more expensive than it is already. Our Caps Lock key are double shot keys. Cap Lock has its own molds (we make two) and you can see how this is manufactured following the link below kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pbafd9miss6pqn0.html *19. Keys are now 73€ - They were 49€ during the campaign* True and Two factors why this happened. We had to order additional keycaps outside of original request. Extra keycaps cost almost double since original request for campaign contributors had molds altogether. To be of same price we should order 50K+ sets. Also, since the pandemic pretty much all costs raised. We also have a new warehouse in China. All this makes new sets more expensive. *20. "Chinese company ... are outnumbered by the "cha bu duo" variety, just don't buy anything that's made in China"* This is a false assumption and reducing our partners as 差不多 isn't respectful at all. To get these keys done we went through amazingly difficult design times not even talking about the countless iterations on label printing. Please do not follow common-beliefs unless you have real experience in heavy industry in Asia.

@@A1200NET I cant believe these keys has passed your QA. How many factories has you tried to ask if it's posible to make these keys? These keys is absolutely in the cheapest of the cheapest end.

@A1200Net thanks for these Caps. Well there might be some minor issues, but it is also worth to mention that last original cap were produced 25years ago. So you start from scratch designing and producing them. Taking this in to account, i am pretty fine with the product.

I tried to tell you something about a certain very large asian country's manufacturing that was unflattering, albeit not rude or impolite in any way, and I was surprised to find youtube completely deleted it. I then tried re-posting it by starting with a benign comment and then editing it repeatedly to be the original comment. Each edit was okay until the point where it matched the original comment, and then it was deleted again. Can you see in your dashboard why youtube thought it was too offensive to be allowed on your channel? This is really concerning. Also, please allow both of them through so KZfaq will re-mark them as acceptable and I won't get a higher wrongthink score in google's algorithms. :) I'll delete the duplicate if/when I see it.

Actually, never mind. I just tried posting the same comment to my own tiny channel with a second account and it also disappeared, and it didn't even show up under [Held for Review] when I checked in the dashboard. This... is creepy. All I did was to suggest that it's not a good idea to buy stuff that's made there unless it's from a company that's known to be diligent about making stuff properly. There might be a mole inside Google adding filters that delete anything anti- ... _there_ ... and I wonder if the higher ups know about it.

Okay, the YouΤube mole scare is over. It's not because I said something unkind about the typical manufacturing process over there. It's because I suggested that you search a term that was relevant to what I was saying by using the word "google" as a verb and then following it with that term in quotation marks. Looked it up again: it’s 70 EUR shipping EXCLUDING customs if I order case + keycaps, because black keys on a beige case looks like crap. I am looking at a total of almost 270€ for one case and one set of keycaps. That is ridiculously expensive. EDIT: that’s including the current 10% new year’s discount.

An OS 1.3 colour scheme could be pretty nice. I think they have reduced the number of colours significantly though, some backers were asked to reselect from a smaller range of colours.

As far as I know from my conversations with Phil from A1200net, they are doing what they can to fulfill all the orders after they finally solved the manufacturing issues now. Regarding keycaps being available before being shipped to backers : This idea is technically false. Only keycaps being shipped to contributors are available at same time to Amiga enthusiasts. We don't have much choice about that and we've explained why through campaign updates. Heavy industry isn't something you can adjust to your will - furthermore after what the world went through. Is that the same? - And either way, I can't use neither the standard UK nor the standard US keyboards, as I need to be able to type extra letters like æøå. I wish I could type ð and áíóúý too but I don't think any Amiga keyboard layouts ever had those. Maybe there's a custom one or some piece of software that can make custom ones like that. I just hope it doesn't need a ROM change. Anyway, thanks!

I think you are right. The metal clips should help pushing the keys off center by distributing the load over the whole width.

As far as I know the stems from the standard Amiga keyboards should work across most Amigas and even on most C128 but the C64 stems are slightly different.

Writing without looking at the keyboard is about the only thing I learned in our computer classes. Still, it's proven to be a quite invaluable skill. :)

@@weepingscorpion8739 my glass was terrrible. Basically a typing class. I was 100 times more “computer literate” than the teacher. Which made for some fun antics. I remember one time I copied the answers of the test onto floppy’s and handed them out while she was standing there talking to me lol🤣😂

No, there's definitely some lubricant on there (very visible as a yellow-ish greasy paste on the old mechanisms).

That may very well be the reason! Thankfully all the keys were there, just in unexpected places… 😅

Some of the keys are probably in the "wrong" place because of the production process. The mounting board is probably used to hold the keys for printing and the "F" and "J" keys have a deeper top profile since they are "locator" keys for touch typists. It would need somebody at the factory to then swap them after printing for them to be in the "correct" positions.

Yeah, pretty much the same happened to me. I was drilling a cable hole into a cabinet for my RetroPie in the living room and the (old and dull) circular saw drill bit thing slipped. It is not a deep cut in my case thankfully so it looks worse than it is. Still taught me a lesson.

Yeah I was really suprised at the cost. They "look" good, but there seems to be alot of differences from the original key caps. The letters are more bold, lots of little changes in how some keys look. The edge on the tops of the key caps are sharper then the original keys where they have a more rounded edge to to them. Not to mention the missing bits and the key where the print is upside down / wrong. Thats just a straight up issue they should have caught as all of them are going to be printed that way, its not like they custom make the print for each set of keys. $20 to $30 with the differences and issues but not $70+ But I will say they overall look nice though.
