Dude, so glad found this channel. New pool owner and going to turn off my pool maintenance and do it myself!!! 💩is 💵💵💵!!! What’s the difference between cartridge and DE filter equipment? I have all Jandy equipment. Thanks again in advance. Keep up the great content!!!

I never use nor have anyone in 20 years that has or had a DE Filter. DE filters are more expensive and are mostly used for inground spas. Using a cartridge filter is the cheaper choice that works very well and it's easier to clean. We don't really install DE filters over a sand filter or a cartridge filter in Canada.

Great Video. I recently picked up the same setup used. Unfortunately I cant get rid of this versaflo fault. Any tricks to getting rid of this. If I cant get the valve to open electronically my contractor said we can switch it to a manual valve vs taking the versaflo off completely. I would like the versaflo to work as its supposed to but at this point I really want my heater to work more so any advice is much appreciated.

I don't use that system to much. Sounds like you might need a new one if it doesnt work right.

Great video- I have exact same Jandy heater. I noticed you didn't have to reconnect the water pressure switch so maybe it wasn't disconnected at closing? I'm winterizing right now and I'm wondering if it's necessary to do that step? The manual says to disconnect the copper tube inside the heater from the switch itself, but it's very hard to get to. I notice the copper tube runs through the side and connects to the manifold at the return inlet. Could I disconnect it there? Any advice much appreciated, thanks.

If you have the same heater and the switch is at the manifold, no need to disconnect. Just blow out the lines longer. Some Hayward heaters you have to disconnect that switch, I should do video on different heaters Nd how to blow everything out.

Thanks. Yes, same heater. Just so I fully understand, the copper tube runs from the manifold on the outside to the switch on the inside- so if I understand, as long as I blow the lines longer, I don't need to disconnect the switch inside and I don't need to disconnect the copper tube at the manifold? @@VIPPoolsandSpas

Hello, thank you for the video. I opened my pool yesterday and now I am receiving this error message "Check Aqua pure" (No flow). I would like to know what may be causing this problem.

Jump the flow switch to see if it's the flow switch or board.

Turn off one at a time and you'll see if the skimmer is working. Won't see it if it's a main drain on the bottom.

Do you backwash or just clean the filter? I’m a new pool owner and I don’t see a lot of videos for backwashing a Jandy filter pump.

"Backwashing" , Is used mostly when people are talking about a sand filter. Guess if you have a lot of sand or small debris and want to "flush it" out. To do this, connect a male adapter and a shut off valve at the drain plug. That way you could open the shut off when the system is running and "flush" some of the debris out the bottom. To get the best result, just take it apart and clean off the cartridge filters.

How often should the Jandy cartridge filter be cleaned (weekly, monthly…)?

If you close your pool for the winter, you'll clean the filter more at the beginning. As the summer starts rolling you'll clean maybe once a month. It all depends on how clean you keep your pool and if you balance the water. It's good to have "back up" filters just for the start of the season, then put the "good" ones in after its all clear. Filter savers in the skimmer basket also at the start of the season helps a lot

I used this video to open my pool. The only question I have is about the skimmer. I wasn’t sure if I needed to take out the plug in the bottom of the skimmer. The cap for the heater was still on from the closing. I took out the 2 inch white cap at bottom of skimmer v

Do you have a main drain in the pool? How many pipes do you have going to the front of the pool pump?

You could change the plumbing to do this. There isnt any "dial" to change as of now. Could put a "TEE" and a 3 way shut off where it goes into the filter from the pump. That way you could change the direction of the flow so it doesnt go into the filter.

This video is for a cartridge filter. Are you saying your getting sand in the pool from a cartridge filter? Or is it really a sand filter? If so, change the filters laterals. It's cracked on the stem or the bottom.

If you were asking only because of what you saw in the video, then it's nothing. No plugs in those spots. Just a dead end.

@@VIPPoolsandSpas I see the threads. Opening is about 1.5 to 2 inches. It’s the first time I’ve opened my pool. I’ve had to wait so long for the pool guys. My pool was green so I took action. Between your video and my determination, I think we’ve got it. If you could do a skimmer video that would be great. Your video was the best on the jandy product.

@@mdelong If you follow my opening videos, you will see that all the parts for the pool equipment should be in the pump basket. If you use up all the parts, there's nothing else to put in. Thats it. For the skimmer. If you had a "gizzmo" in the skimmer, that hole (opening) will normally be to the pump. The other plug if not upside down, might be too the main drain. Do you have a main drain in the deep end and how many lines are going to the front of the pool pump?

A better way is to not close a pool. Closing a pool limits the life of your plaster or vinyl liner because you arent keeping the water chemistry balanced.

I hear ya. But in Canada and many other places, it would be a lot more costly if you heat it. And. If you ever had a leak underground. Wow. Not good. It is better to close it where freezing weather is the norm.
