Breaking Bad follows protagonist Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a chemistry teacher who lives in New Mexico with his wife (Anna Gunn) and teenage son (RJ Mitte) who has cerebral palsy. Regardless of Walt's unbridled ego and craving for power, he genuinely cares for Jesse. It is exactly why he withheld that money since he will obviously do something stupid with it. It's also why he ran over Gus' henchmen when he had no gain from doing so.

This part of the show was so tense. Jesse did deserve his money, but Walt was also right to not want him to inject it all. One of those parts where you really don't know who to root for as they both make a decent point. Loved that about BB and BCS

I’ve always said Walt should have called her bluff. I can’t think anything she could have done to Walt to get him in trouble that wouldn’t get Jesse in trouble too. Would she show them the rv? And how would they know he even cooked in the RV if Jane was even able to find it? I’m sure they could find walts fingerprints in there, but then they’d also find JESSES fingerprints as well. So not only would Jesse and Walt get in trouble, but none of them would see a dime of that money.

It's basically the prisoner's dilemma situation, which Walt probably realized. Had Jesse confessed similar to what happened in season 5, he would have gotten a lighter sentence and even possibly immunity, whereas Walt would have had a worse situation. Jesse even planned to do it in season 3 after he got beat up by Hank. The argument was that Jesse's crimes would be forgiven if he turned on Walt. You are right that neither of them would see that money but it was basically a scorched earth tactic. You also have to consider that Jane might not have cared about Jesse and Walt took that into account.

Jane's fatal mistake was blackmailing Walter, because she did it more than once. You never know when Fate willnoffer you a dark gift, you may hate yourself for accepting it but feel you have no choice. Jane would have overdone things sooner or later. Once they got low on money, Jane would be pestering Walter again. An endless cycle.

Not defending what Walt actually did, but Jane was not this pure and innocent princess either. As selfish and evil as Walt's motives were, he DID kinda save Jesse's life by not saving Jane. There's no way that Jesse and Jane would have survived together. For me, the most irredeemable thing Walt ever did was poisoning Brock.

Don't know why Walter didn't just say in the moment but if Jane told anyone about it, they definitely would've investigated and not only found AND CONFISCATED all the money he got including Jesse's, but the DEA would've definitely found out Jesse was a part of the drug operation. Walt easily could've threatened back and told Jane since she was doing this all for him that she would never see Jesse outside of a jail cell if she tried to "burn him to the ground" lol

One of the fascinating things to me about Breaking Bad is how I viewed its characters, given that Walt is the protagonist--albeit antihero--and Jesse was the Robin to his Batman. This made me not like Skyler, unless she was supporting what Walt wanted; and I really detested Jesse's parents. I liked Jane because Jesse did. And I liked how vulnerable she was in the beginning: trying to recover, but falling backward again. To follow the Batman analogy, Saul was kind of like their Alfred. But then Jane tried to blackmail our hero, revealing herself as a villain. But, who's the villain? Both? Neither? With this mirror-universe Batman, the Dark Knight antihero wasn't a hero, or an antihero. I wish, like in El Camino, she could have gone to Alaska with Jesse. But BB was never that cut and dry, or black and white. It's complicated.
