Mr. Darcy is SO MUCH better!!!!!

Alice Carvalho Well neither one of them is better than Gabriel Oak from “ Far From the Madding Crowd” by Thomas Hardy ( if you haven’t read that one my friend, do it. Gabriel Oak will ruin every other fictional man for you 😂) so I’m not passionate enough about Rochester ever since I read this new book to defend him, you win lol

The love of my life has some Rochester vibes, I thought of him as a very unreliable serial womanizer... turns out he was trying to tease me, he was desperate for me to pay attention to him but he had no idea of how to get close to me, (I friendzoned him for 4 years because I fell for other guys, who ignored me) I am sort of the typical socially awkward person who seems cold or mean but I am actually playful and affectionate with the few people who are close to me. He used to talk to me about how sad he felt about x girlfriend who dumped him ... instead of being jealous I thought he was a jerk who had cheated on his ex girlfriends (because all of them dumped him)... I found out the truth in such a weird way... The girl who used to be his girlfriend mocked him for being a "prude" and also one of his classmates explained that he avoided physical contact with them, he was never interested in those relationships but had a very strong moral compass and never cheated on any of them... his "friends" would constantly say he was "virgin", "gay" and "boring" for not having sex (he is very tall and handsome so he had many opportunities at parties but waited for "the right one") He is a very kind, passionate, witty, hardworking man. In a moment of crisis he is willing to sacrifice himself, 3 years ago there was a strong earthquake in Mexico, we were in a building and he said "you go first! I'm behind you". I believe that sometimes the people we find along the way are valuable, but sometimes misunderstood unless we give them a chance

Мне кажется , что автор не хотел делать фильм уж очень истеричным ( уж простите за такое сравнение), хотя вы правы - вырезанные сцены могли бы многое объяснить. И разве может в фильме быть "много" Майкла Фассбендера. На него, как на воду и огонь, можно смотреть вечно))

@Zsuzsanna Varga Rochester is not ugly in the book, just has strong features, and in any case it depends on Jane particular opinion about beauty, and what was considered a good looking man at the time

He wasn't ugly. Just the beauty standards of the period were different. In nowadays, everybody is king and queen of beauty, but back then no.

I think, that he isn't quite handsome in this film...

Jane Eyre is amazing! and is one of my favourite book too.

I When I read the book, I was imagining all this in my imagination, but the movie gave me a better and more wonderful impression of the characters, of course.

This is my favourite version of Jane Eyre. Michael and Mia are brilliant

E. Mr. Ciaran Hinds channels the turmoil anger and despair, he is the classic overbearing antagonistic & tormented soul (the presence of his mad wife is both haunting and chilling in this 1997 flick). You feel the tumultous relationship as he and Samantha Morton fight and succumb inevitably to love. Timothy Daltons Mr Rochester was too sedate and the Jane Eyre too subdued, but the dialogue in this 1983 movie is beautiful and captivating. Both Tim Dalton and Charleston Heston move beautifully across the screen like some elusive mythical gods... theres something otherworldly abt old classic hollywood.

@@shashasyedd8858 I have to admit that the 1997 version is my least favourite version. Samantha Morton and Ciaran Hinds were both surprisingly terrible in the roles. I say surprisingly because I've seen them in other things and they're great actors but just wrong for Jane Eyre. They just both seemed incredibly angry throughout. Not passionate or feisty but angry. Morton's Jane seemed rude and hostile and Hinds seemed to take the decision to simply shout every line as if we were deaf.
