I feel good while watching the video. I'm happy as I'm a vegan for two and a half year.

I hope you will continue on the right path of veganism, for health, the animals, and the planet. I am nearly 69 yrs and have been vegan for ethical reasons for the past 12 and have been very fit and healthy. My immune system is stronger and all the health issues i previously had for decades all went away within weeks of me going vegan. You have done the right and moral thing and if you are getting all the nutrients your body needs then you will reap the benefits of that too.

Ms Goodall is such an accomplished woman and I greatly admire her wisdom. She has such compassion for animals and must be horrified at how CoVid 19 started. It's easy being a veggie/vegan. Give it a try xx even if you lapse and try again later. There are some great alternatives. 😊

I agree that she would be concerned with how Covid 19 started. Going Vegan is easier than people give it credit. There are so many alternatives now a days to make it easier.

It is important to remember that we do things first for our own selves and therefore it is important for a person to realise that they are making a difference when they stop eating animals, its Positive Karma.

I completely agree, being vegan is the single most thing that helps me with my morales and values. Can’t sit back and know what goes in a slaughter house with a good conscious. Great comment!!

I’d like to fix an error she said: methane is not 8 times more powerful than CO2 in heating the planet. It’s 130 times more, but it converts to CO2 in about 12.4 years. This means that to compare it to CO2 we have to average the greenhouse potential over a number of years. Over 20 years, it’s about 86 times more, over 100 years, about 24 times.

I'm wondering if she is using the word "vegetarian" because years ago vegetarian was 100% plant-based. Back in the day people thought vegans were militant anarchist activists. She does mention that we should think about what we wear which leads me to believe she doesn't wear/use animal skins etc.

@@goldcardvegan thanks. Just out of curiousity, did vegetarians back in the day not consume dairy and eggs?
@goldcardvegan
@goldcardvegan 4 жыл бұрын
@@ariendb That's right. It was the egg/dairy Industry that campaigned to get dairy and eggs into the vegetarian diet siting that it was needed for protein and calcium. These were then added to the nutritional guidelines until it became the norm to include them in the vegetarian diet. Couldn't for the life of me understand why as the word vegetarian has a vegetable connotation - not animal haha ... Ah, the powers of commerce.

I think when people need to eat meat for their health (as it is in some cases), they need to make sure they eat grass fed healthy animals because then they have a good life and as in 'The Biggest Little Farm' cows can be extremely good for the environment. Billions of bison once roamed the earth - they were grass fed too and much healthier for the environment - factory farming is definitely the worse thing that has happened on this earth - cruel and inhumane.

We don't cherry pick one thing that animals do in nature while not mimicking all the other horrible things they do to justify that action when working towards a truly civilised society. This is a nature fallacy and illogical reasoning to base our world view on.

@@morganechaili I think we are wasting our valuable time on these trolls. I have only just come to realize that most people are open to change once they know the truth but there are still going to be some ignorant and self centred people who will never change.

@@ruthsmith1694 I agree. There is a dwindling number of truly ignorant people out there who really need to hear about what animals go through. The growing majority of people, like the transparently foolish OP in this thread, are fully aware what animals suffer, but simply don't care, and will never care. They will even go one step further and promote animal exploitation online and flaunt their selfish lifestyles. In a way this is something Earthling Ed touched on in a recent video he did about the difficulties in being vegan. He said the real difficulty doesn't lie in finding protein or B12 at all. The difficulty is we are in a narcissistic world of people who only think of satisfying themselves, on a wasteful and destructive diet and lifestyle that they don't even need.

This is a great video, but it does seem to present many ethical problems as equal. The largest holocaust to ever occur worldwide happening multiple times a day, the animal holocaust caused by peoples' constant animal consumption, is far different than a product that is bought once a year and maybe has cruelty that is maybe helped through a boycott. Both are important, one is guaranteed and on a massive scale.
