I love how cho is sincerely having a big smile and happy at his friends happy day! Lisbon birthday, Wayne and Grace's wedding vow, Jane and Lisbon wedding... The selfie he had with Wayne and grace is so great, and it's forever in my memory

Yes. And a bit of a side note but I think by this point they've fallen for each other. Lisbon looked devastated that Jane didn't get her a gift, and Jane called himself her "daddy".

@@smurfyday no the line is a reference to the trope of pouting because someone didnt give you a gift (even tho her reaction is normal, not critisizing it at all), that it's like a spoiled kid pouting because they didn't get what they want. (Think veruca salt from Charlie and the chocolate factory; "Daddy, I want a pony!" In an angry tone, stomping foot etc. Even after her dad had given her endless material possessions) I really don't think there was intentions of anything sexual here, especially as it was only the first season and at that point in the show none of the producers really wanted to lean into the romance between the two because it was just too early on.

@@sarac9424 Seriously, after the episode where Jane talked about seducing Lisbon and Lisbon denied inevitable thoughts and responded with the double entendre, bite me? After she blushed so much over being glad Jane couldn't really read her mind that Rigsby commented about it? After they held hands and jumped into the rain? After he felt and caressed lingeringly her face to know what it felt like when she smiled? We watched completely different shows.

@@smurfyday To be fair, they weren't completely overt in their affections. You kinda almost felt they were forced together by the end. But I understand why he didn't; because the first 5 years are about avenging his family and has to do that before he can close the chapter and begin a new family.

@@orangefox1231 If those weren't overt I don't know what is. Until RJ was captured he wasn't going to put Lisbon in danger. He was also paying penance for his family and felt he would wrong them. But heart wants what the heart wants. It was the opposite of forcing them into anything.

Teresa seems much more relaxed with her whole team now than in the show's first few episodes. I know that doylist logic probably just means the writers and actors were finding their footing, but I'd like to think the watsonian reason is that the show starts around the point that Jane, after five years recovering and four under Lisbon's care, has finally reached a point of normality and emotional equilibrium. He is still traumatized, but also strong, determined, and protected. Because he is finally in a safe state of mind, he is attached, cheerful, and attentive towards Lisbon. The only time Teresa is really happy--and I mean really lights up--is because of Patrick. He feels safe, and his gratitude makes *her* feel safe, and suddenly her whole team has become not just her responsibility but her family. Jane playing the parent by buying her a pony is just a hint of the role he is heading for in her life--not as friend, teammate, brother, or even her father, but a father figure to pair with the mother figure she has become. They are moving towards a romantic union, and were from the start.

I don't think they were that hard to guess, tbh. They wouldn't be super personal/intimate gifts, their shape made them fairly easy targets, and Lisbon has no life outside of work. On the other hand, we also know Jane isn't above cheating to create the illusion of precognition so...who's to say he didn't peek beforehand?

I don’t feel like Patrick was referring to himself when he said “daddy.” That’s just a saying, more like is she upset about something she never got from her childhood. Since he’s closing his eyes, he must be guessing their gifts based on what he knows about their personalities and previous observations about them. She references the pony again in Season 7, but they don’t talk about what happened to the pony!!! It would have been cool if the pony lived with them at their new land/cabin home.

@@kienmaple What do you mean? At 0:21 seconds we see a purple yoga mat. At 0:24 Jane says, "Yoga mat." At 0:46 we see a gift certificate in Lisbon's hands. At 0:47 Jane says, "OK, Rigsby, it's a give certificate for a spa treatment." And so on.

@@kienmaple Now I understand why we aren't on the same page, Kien. I agree that AS FAR AS WE COULD TELL, he didn't look until after he guessed. But what I said was he called out his guess after the unwrapping--not after he looked. First, let's keep in mind that this is fiction. Someone wrote a script, and the actors followed it. But in real life--that is, in a real-life mentalist stage performance--this guessing after the thing is unwrapped can make all the difference. The mentalist may use any number of ways to know what the object is once it is visible and known to others present. Saying what it is before it is visually revealed to others may require completely different tactics.
