I was there...fucking immense. Still sad they cancelled Reading. Crowd was heaving that night. Navarro approached me before the show to see if I had or could get him some speed! Kid you not. Man, I fucking loved this band. Must have seen the original band about 20 times. Absolute transcending heaven type soaring emotion...I can't even explain....just GOOD BEYOND WORDS! Thanks for uploading. :-)

This was the first of two amazing "secret" shows at the great Subterrania venue. These were warm-up gigs for their scheduled gig at the Reading Festival, which they had to cancel, as well as the upcoming European leg of the Ritual de lo Habitual tour. I think that album had come out the week of these shows, but almost all of the songs played here are from Nothing's Shocking. I was living in London at the time for eight months and was lucky enough to catch these shows about a month before I had to return to the US. I remember the only advertising for this was a small ad in Melody Maker and probably NME for the band Tragic Roundabout that said "There's Nothing Shocking about the very special U.S. guests" (or something like that). Amazing shows... thanks for posting this. All that's missing is "Jane Says", which I know was done as the last encore (with steel drums and all), although this may have been only performed at the end of the second night - I can't remember. That would explain why it's not included in this video. If someone does have that recording of "Jane Says" please post it as that was the amazing end of these shows. Tonight, 27 years later in 2017, I have a ticket to see them at the fairly small Ogden Theater in Denver, Colorado... happy to still be alive after all these years.

Weird to see this after all these years. I travelled down to Ladbrook Grove from East Ham with a girl I fancied at college to see this band. It took forever and I was surprised that the concert was sold out, so we had to turn around and head home. Didn't see the band but still a great memory ha ha.

David DiDonato who cares he just made bass lines it ain’t that hard. The rest of the band are better musicians by far especially Dave dude could solo his ass off. Eric sounds horrible trying to sing too so cringy. Porno for Pyros is better anyway

Wow just randomly looked up this show I was there as well think it was my second or third week living in London. We had been to the club the week before and saw this kinda secret warmup gig and got tix. Was incredible, rumor was Perry was fresh out of rehab (whether it was true or not) and was just blown away. Awesome I found this, and per earlier comment definitely not 22/9/90 because that date was definitely by 21st birthday and I was definitely in Amsterdam lol.

God dammit, fucking Jane’s was THE band of the 90s, idc what anyone else… great drugs, unbelievably soul leaving live experiences, it was like a damn Shamanic ritual each and every night was so unique. I’m a fucking sucker for 1990 shows but I really dug they’re comeback spins in 97 with Flea too. Shit was super cool

The did indeed. Was gutted at Reading. Took some bad acid instead and spent the day staring at the dirt around site floating in the air as I sat on the grass - like watching an endless sea of legs in a sand storm...tripping out my brains...not knowing where I was...serious confusion. Think one of the bands warned from the stage that bad acid was doing the rounds on site. Too late!! lol. Double dipped Red Dragons. Never forget that day...and JA cancelled. Trip Away!!

Nope. I was there then went to Reading and found out they had cancelled due to Perry losing his voice. Definitely August 1990. Something may be listed wrongly elsewhere but the Subterrenia gig was definitely August. They came back in October to tour Ritual de lo Habitual then again in March 1991 when Been Caught Stealing was released. I went to almost all the shows. They then did some European dates, the inaugural Lolla then split as there was some major friction within the band.

They also did a surprise support to The Wonderstuff at Brixton Academy just prior to this which I was at. Have no memory of that one but my best mate assures me I was there! lol
