The problem is as much a social disability than anything, affecting imagination,social interaction and communication Areas that are important for functioning in society. People are less intolerant of dififerences and much likely to judge the ill intent behind behaviour of someone they don't know. So employment is a problem in much the same way as relationships with the opposite sex. . It is true that the way that the thing acts causes us to be narrow field of interest which can seem 'odd' for others. AS women of course are less invisible because they tend to be more interested in relationships.

There is a wide spectrum of Aspergers. Here is a book that really helped a friend of mine. The book was written by someone with Aspergers. The Asperkid's (Secret) Book of Social Rules: The Handbook of Not-So-Obvious Social Guidelines for Tweens and Teens with Asperger Syndrome Maybe you can find it at your local library. Amazon sells it as well.

Although my state could have been far worse ( I communicate mostly well and when the situation allows it I participate well in companies) it does affects my life on many, many levels. Asperger is something that you wouldn't want to have it. It is a light version of autism and it causes you. 1. Social problems (you either ignore or don't use the canons of social behaviour) with the result of having little to no friends 2. Problems with commuinication like repeating with the exact way the thing you said to the other. 3. Your movements are clumsy and slower. 4. You have difficulties to deal with your every day life. 5. Your either have a flat voice or you have issues of controlling it's tension like for example you are on cinema. I personally belong to the second category. 6. When somebody speaks using irony or metaphor you can't understand it. 7. You think either in a confusing and complex way or completely wrong. 8. Noise easily upsets and distracts you. 9. Changes of your every day routine upsets you. 10. You behave immatuarly and you either have no controll of yourself to your behaviour or you manage to controll it but with a lot of difficulty. 11. You have obsessions like watching the same movie over and over again and you still get touched. 12. When you sit for a lot of time on the internet or the television and you stop watching you have a harder tine to get adapt again to the real world. 13. You may also have dyslexia or hearing problems, meaning the nervous system has problem to process to what you just heard. 14. You have problems with concentration and orientation.

The is actually very valid question. She has aspergers which is on the autism spectrum. Different people with autism are effected by autism differently, so this dose not necessarily apply to everyone with autism. But some people with autism develop problems with touch. If someone taps you on the shoulder, it is probably not that big of deal. But for some people with autism, getting tapped on the shoulder could trigger strong discomfort and/or anxiety. As someone who saw this movie, she dose have that issue. So him asking first was both the smart and compassionate thing to do.
