it means a lot that she thanked the orchestra before, hardly anyone does that
@daveyt32247 жыл бұрын
haha probably because orchestras are notorious for "cutting up" or clowning the pop music they are "subjected" to as they probably can't wait to get back to their stuck-up attitude playing "real" music. Having said that I love this song.
@leanhquoc31096 жыл бұрын
lol really, she had to, because her music sounds great or not depend even more on the orchestra than her voice, honestlym
@Sjimbwow5 жыл бұрын
daveyt what a complete bullshit lol. I play violin in an orchestra, I love playing classical music but I can't stop listening to good pop, rock, electro and so many other styles. Would absolutely love to work together with Janelle, just like about everyone around me in the orchestra. How did you get this view of orchestras? Did you ever talk to them?
@luigiiodice35173 жыл бұрын
@@Sjimbwow same here, flute orchestra kid and I love every type of music, Janelle is one of my dream collaborations😍
@MetallicAddict153 жыл бұрын
@@Sjimbwow In my experience, the ones drawing artificial dividing lines between musical styles and genres and pitting them against one another are usually the ones that have never touched an instrument in their lives. Music is about love and connection, not hate and division

Everyone up there was so on point. Sound (and sound/video editing.) Her background singers - ALL those musicians KILLED. And she went out there and shined so bright. Cheers to the woman with a cause. ON A SIDE NOTE, can we all TAKE A MOMENT TO RECAP ON THE ILLUSTRIOUS CONDUCTOR and his grace at 2:34.

She doesn't need classification anymore. Modern music has been cross genred and convoluted since pop music began. Let us embrace her for all she gives.

I've watched this performance dozens of times over the last decade and still it gives me goosebumps! J Monae is just on a whole other level!

It's sad to know how GREAT of an artist, musician, talent filled and amazing woman this is and over here in America this isn't considered "radio music" so you hardly hear about Janelle in the Urban/Hip Hop world. Her music is endless, powerful and inspirational! They're all about money now days... I LOVE you Janelle, your music, your band, your mindset, your motive, your attitude, your style and your gift!

She could effortlessly execute the classics. Janelle, were a standout accompaniment for the orchestra. -- Much Love to you.
@kevinfox2984 жыл бұрын
She is purely, perfectly talented, and she wears her suits and Oxfords as a nod to her working class parents, who all wore uniforms to work in, to acknowledge that this is her job, but I don't see the point in tearing down women who wear the skimpier outfits and weave. Her message would be just as strong in her suit and Oxfords as they would if she wore nothing at all. A woman is strongest in what she does for herself, as long as she is an agent and willing participant in it.

I notice that a lot of audiences that Janelle Monae performs for are dry and unresponsive. I think she should have a concert where only people who really, genuinely want to see her go. Not people like this dead audience, because Janelle honestly deserves the crowd jumping, dancing, and singing with her.
@teeramirez16246 жыл бұрын
00Arkham00 It does look that way. I believe the reason for the appearance of disparity of the audience is due to viewing them in back ground. Then transpose her into the equation. In relation to Janelle's almost insane energy levels, yes just about all audiences would seem flat. She vibrates and delivers on an unreal level. An audience with that much energy would be considered a raging mob Lol . She IS amaging.

I saw Ms. Mona'e for the first time while watching the Palladia channel on Christmas day. She was in concert at the Glastonbury Festival 2011. I enjoyed her singing very much and became a fan. I was shocked that she could also do the James Brown dance. She had cape, hair, the whole package. Quite fitting since he passed on Christmas five years ago.

The lyrics in this song touch my soul and I'm sure many others, being a social outcast and finding love within yourself can be a hard thing to do on your own but when you hear an artist convey that message in such a wonderful and keep faith,you don't feel so alone or ashamed of your uniqueness anymore

More than being one of the greatest musicians of all time, when you look at the entire Archandroid album in context she's also one of the greatest science fiction writers too. I'm a fan of Metropolis and all, but I'd take a film version of Archandroid instead if given the choice.

janelle wins over adele in my book only just for the fact she sings about social themes her songs make you think ....not just love songs...and she's way more original... way more ..I don't like basic artists who ONLY sing love songs in general and adele fits in that category...I never heard a song of her which isn't a love song..
