what's with all the hype for a lip synched concert? She only uses her voice when yelling to the crowd--anybody can do that.

"Better" is a value judgement, I'm talking preference. I like true musicians who place substance and message over spectacle and the illusion of perfection. In terms of inspiration, I believe Jill is the only one who has been directly inspired by Janet, Erykah and Georgia were most inspired by MJ. Janet is an iconic artist (and I do love her voice--I describe it as tall lush grass, blowing gently in the wind on a peaceful lake), but for reasons which are more about her image, and not her musicianship.
