Janet has gone on record and said that it was her who did the backflip but the way it was shot, many thought it was a stunt double. They only shot the backflip one time

Janet Jackson absolutely killed this . I remember J-Lo stating, "after watching this video, it inspired her to get in the game. " Britney always emulated , and wanted to be her Beyoncé , Aaliyah, Selena, Pink, Ciara, Doja Cat, Normani and Tinashe have always cited Janet as a huge inspiration. The woman is Legendary!

Remember when that white racist Les Moonves of NBC singlehandeldly snifled career after the Super Bowl ward robe malfunction but gave some mealy mouth reason why Justin Timberlake was left to have a storied career and host the Supber Bowl appropriating white culture then yes later Les Moonves was knocked off his perch from NBC by getting caught being a sexual predator. Who knows maybe he was pissed Janet spurned his creepy behavior.

The Blueprint!! So many of today's female singers/entertainers have referenced this video as inspiration. The song was recorded in 1985-86 and this video premiered in 1987.

She did the backflip herself. She has always taken tumbling classes. The video director Dominic Sena, that's just his editing style besides they had crash mats on the floor to cushion the fall because she was so high in the air. But yes she did in fact do it. You can see outtakes of her missing the chair, falling while spinning and other video bloopers. It's out there on the net.

I was obsessed with this video when I was 15 and still love it to this day. I understood the sentiment and it was my comfort song at the time dealing with my high school boyfriend and me having to break up with him😂😂😂 The song is one of my all-time favorites and is in my playlist even till today. Yes young grasshopper.... The year was 1987.. Janet's sophomore album titled "Control". A huge breakout for her career! She stood out as a performer and not just a sibling of Micheal. I love the sentiment of the song, lyrics that transcends generations.

Janet is my favorite artist of all time and I love that you are getting to know her and her music.
