Yeah... During this period, Paula was the head cheerleader and choreographer for the LA Lakers cheerleaders. Her first album dropped shortly after this.

This was Janet's first single, Paula Abdul is to Janet's left in the last dance segment in the white blouse and white ribbon in her hair. she choreographed a lot of Janet's first few videos, but I always admired how Janet made the dance look like she made it up herself!! Please Please do Pleasure Principle!! and If, or the whole video special video event of Rhythm Nation

This whole album and its videos are some of the best of Janet's entire career....all featuring the vocals, choreography, neck pops, and styling done by a then unknown Lakers cheerleader named Mrs. Paula Abdul!!You can see me in not one, not two, but 3 films with Ms Jackson (if you're nasty) all directed by Tyler Perry as well as in the Paula Abdul episode of DropDead Diva!! So cracray how this world works some day's..... Its wild....i swear.

This was of the first Janet solo stuff...all the dancers in the vids, slightly heavier here, all the layers of wardrobe in what she wore, all the supporting cast of dancers and people in all her vids....this was the only Janet people knew, the she released PLEASURE PRINCIPLE, with a stripped down look and she went hard...and it took everyone by storm about have you seen Janet now?! PLEASURE PRINCIPLE was when she turned the corner as a solo artist, and shed all of this supporting cast they always surrounded her with early on in her solo career....PLEASURE PRINCIPLE was just her, a new look, and she scorched it.

Fun fact, this song is about her marriage to James Debarge and it was recorded after the album Control was completed. Janet went back to the studio because a label executive wanted more uptempo songs for her album

Janet was speaking for all of us. These were her glory years. You can see Paula Abdul in here as one of the backup dancers. At this time Paula did most of Janet's & others choreography. She's also in Janet's Nasty video. Paula then released her album.

Janet was the worlds top female late 80's to mid 90's One of my favorites I was told in highschool I couldn't wear my Janet Shirt. (Almost all white school). Principal took me to his office told me to turn it inside out or take it off. I flipped him off and walked out if his office half the school was outside and cheered when I came out still wearing the shirt...I wasn't expelled After lots of support from start and students.. Don't bow down

I remember when they used 2 do the Pop-Up Videos on VH1 (I believe) that in 1 of her videos (Rhythm Nation) it said that she was so hard on herself that if she didn't feel her dancing wasn't good enough...she would make them reshoot til she felt she got it right. Dedication ❤️

Paula Abdul did the choreography and played Janet's friend at the beginning of this video. Via Wikipedia: "Jackson shared in her book True You in 2011 that her recording company thought it was important that she appeared thinner in the video: 'I'd been told that my whole life, but at this critical juncture, with my career taking off, I didn't have the wherewithal to argue. We [she and Paula Abdul] shared a house and spent weeks exercising [in Canyon Ranch]. I was as motivated as ever to come out on top. I felt good when it was over. I enjoyed the compliments about my "new" shape. I shot the video and did in fact reshape my image.'"

Prince also wrote this song for Janet but did not take credit for it. Instead Prince gave it to his ex band members Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Prince did it to get back at Michael Jackson for passing him in success after the Thriller album. That's why Prince decided to help Michael's sister. Prince also wrote I Feel For You for Chaka Khan. And he wrote Manic Monday for The Bangles, Glamorous Life for Sheila E, and even wrote a beautiful ballad recorded by country music legend Kenny Rogers called You're My Love. If you don't believe Prince wrote this song What Have You Done For Me Lately, just look up on KZfaq Prince admits he wrote What Have You Done For Me Lately. He sings this song live and in the middle of the song he screams WHO WROTE THIS SONG !!!!
