Janet Jackson - Work (Scrapped Demo)

6 жыл бұрынReleased in 2009 by producer Bryan Loren, "Work" was given to Janet in 1989 during the Rhythm Nation sessions. Eventually scrapped, the track became "For You", a track on Loren's 1992 album, Music From The New World.
Loren on the track:
"Unlike 'Work That Body', 'Serious Effect', 'She Got it', and a host of other unreleased/unfinished Michael songs I wrote that were leaked to the internet(nice job, Nimrod. Whoever and wherever you are), I think I have something here that was spared that fate(I said, I think).
'Work' is a track that Janet did not use on 'Rhythm Nation'. I produced and performed the track, and co-wrote with Janet. The two of us are doing the background vocals. Imagine a coal mine/construction site. Yeah, that's it. It is presented here(as are/will be any of the unreleased Michael tracks) in its unfinished form. Enjoy."

It would be awesome if J released a 30th anniversary special deluxe edition of RN1814 where it'd feature all demos, remixes, rare footages of the making, promo spots, and interviews. One of her memorable and epic outputs ever.

This is a demo, which means that it wasn't a completed track. A shame considering the banger it could've been. It fits perfect with the concept of the album.

I always include this song in the sequencing of RN1814 whenever I think about it. I would have slotted it (probably) between "Miss You Much" and "Love Will Never Do (Without You)". I hope if/when the 30th Anniversary of RN1814 comes out, it includes this song as a bonus track, along w/ the B-sides.

Has any else ever noticed that some of Janet's songs left off the Albums are better than some of the actual singles released? Like; "YOU NEED ME", "THE SKIN GAME", "ONE MORE CHANCE", 'WHO", "PUT YOUR HANDS ON", "I'M HERE", "DAYS GO BY", "ROLL WITHCU", and "LET ME KNOW"!!!

Put your hands one of my jams! I wish it was included on DJ. I wish she didn’t listen to her label to tone down DJ after that incident. That way we would’ve got “Rough,” “Almond Joy,” “Put it on you,” “Pops Up.” And “I Want You,” would’ve still been called, “ Have your way with Me.”

Ah, the 1988 sessions for the Control II followup. Janet began working on her 4th album in September 1988, but it wasn’t with Flyte Tyme until November of that year and January 1989,in earnest. This was recorded in early autumn of 1988 with Bryan Loren.

@@jammck1399Yes, very true. (just saw this) There was a video news report from the last week of August 1988, that Janet Jackson was preparing to record her next album. By 1988 she was considered that important to be announced on the evening news! Clip was removed from the internet unfortunately. A&M refused to advance $1 million to Flyte Tyme to work on the album, so this is what she did in the meantime. Flyte Tyme started doing demos with her in November-Dec, then working on the album in full from January 1989 to late April.

As a fan of Miss J. I think it's a good choice the didn't put this song on the album. Musically it doesn't touch my dance core like the songs they did put on it. Because not everything your favorite artist makes is good! and this is unfortunately one of J.J.

Fun Fact: This song was written by Michael Jackson and Bryan Loren in 1988 giving Michael a chance to work in a new genre of music (New Jack Swing which sparked the “Dangerous” album under the name “Decade”)and given to Janet for her “Rhythm Nation” album but after it failed to make the album it would be picked up again during “Dangerous” recording sessions and picked back up after the first few trials which canceled Michaels “Dangerous” Tour and would be reworked into a song called “The Verdict” which was ultimately scrapped from the “HIStory” album.

@@samuele64246 Michael worked on some songs for nearly 30 years. He often re-worked songs he had written for older albums. The Verdict is probably an "evolution" of the track he gave to Janet. By the way, The Verdict was recorded on May 10th 1994 (the leaked version, which honestly doesn't sound like a full leak).
