I loved your stories Janet, I didn't think the video was too long at all. Stories need context & the more detail the better for me, that said I am the same!! As far as first dates go, I've had a couple of awkward first dates, largely due to girls using subtle filters that gave a false image of what they truly looked like! It's a shame that people cannot just be themselves instead of a false impression. You're going to have a greater chance of having as successful dating experience & future dates, if you are just you & reduce that awkward surprise factor when you meet for the first time, & they're looking past you as they scan around the meeting place for their date 🤔 I've dipped out of the dating game to concentrate of travelling but sometimes, the right connection happens when you least expect it & not looking for it.... who knows, the world works in mysterious ways ! 😊

The most perfect date I ever had was meeting a lady in Christchurch. We just spent a couple of hours on bench seat at Sumner Esplanade with a thermos of tea and we just sat and talked with a nice relaxing atmosphere. That was about ten years ago and we are best friends still but each still single really and in separate cities. Spent many times together though. Visits at holiday weekends occasionally. But I am still single at 42 and no pressure.

Per the dating apps, I think people meet too quickly before screening them electronically...such as asking them questions: What are they ultimately looking for....Have they ever been married..How many times have you been married...How long did your last relationship last...How long ago was your last relationship....Why did your last relationship end....How do you respond when thing go wrong? Even the best of relationships take a lot of work, so if they are not willing to take the work to answer those questions, move on. Using this process, I had a somewhat successful relationship that lasted 5 yrs.

I've never tried online dating, but as I'm graduating university (getting out into the "real world") I'm thinking of giving it a try - though probably not Tinder, it seems to be more for hookups than the more serious relationship I desire. All I hear are horror stories, which makes me more reluctant to try it - is it really that bad, or do people only tell the tragic comedies? I've had a couple disastrous dates over the years, all from people I met in school. One in high school I took a girl I'd known for a long time to a play, though she was hooked on what must have been a very interesting book - she spent any time the play wasn't going reading her book. Later on, my freshman year of university, I took a girl from the dorm, one I'd been contemplating the whole semester (we were both very shy, awkward people) to dinner at a restaurant off-campus. She spent the entire time texting, not even trying to hide the fact that it was another guy she apparently was more interested in than me. Not sure, that could be the guy she later ended up marrying, but I ran away as fast as I could. As I'd driven us there, it was very tempting to give her some practice with the local public transit by ditching her there. Another one that comes to mind that was a semi-disaster, a lot of things went wrong, was my first date with a girl I'd been really drawn to in the dining hall. She'd just been released from a week in the hospital after a severe panic attack, and was really drugged up on anxiety meds and anti-depressants. Probably shouldn't have been out of her parents' sight (she was 19 at the time) but apparently they trusted me somehow to keep an eye on her. Meanwhile I'd come down with a really bad cold, but didn't want to cancel a first date, that felt too cowardly. Thus we both felt like absolute crap. Took her to the Denver Botanical Gardens, unaware that it was a free day - it was absolutely packed, not the serenity I was hoping for. So pretty much everything went wrong, but despite such we wound up going on many more, leading to the only real serious relationship I've ever had.
