At 16 i got to be an extra in this Escapade video filmed in Universal Studios backlot, i walked up to Janet and introduced myself and she gave me the biggest nice handshake and Janet said she pleased to meet me, i really liked Janet at that time, so it was great she was super nice to me & she did look alot like her beautiful brother Michael Jackson, being on set with her was an awesome experience i never forgot:)

Man I don't know about you but I'm in Australia and we lived well below the poverty line, we got beaten, abused, put in an orphanage, passed around foster homes and the one constant I could rely on to get me through was music and school. I always hated home so much, it drove me to love school. Now I'm 45 got kids of my own and I've still got the music, it's groovy man, such horrible memories and the absolute worst years of my life in a time where everyone else loved it. Life goes on mate, now we're adults we get a say in what happens. I know how bad life can be so I choose to make every day a good day, minimum good maximum great outstanding day. Thanks for sharing, I always get so much from other people's stories, it makes me remember I'm not at all alone.

This is the best album of Janet Jackson's life. I remember back in 1990. I bought it on a cassette tape for 40 Hong Kong dollars (about 5 US ) What I did most at the time was put it in my walkman and played it very loudly all day long... This memory of youth is my favorite era in my life. During this period, Janet was full of youthful power and her voice was particularly sweet, making teenage girls and boys intoxicated with the fantasy of love with the song ....thanks Janet you are the best !!!

She's not forgotten the least bit, she was just inducted into the "Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame ", not too long ago even though it was long passed overdue. All of the today's female pop artists have said how much she influenced them including Beyonce, Cierra, Brittany Spears , and Christina Agullera's imulating asses and paid tributes to her over the years.

Janet was never lost in anybody's shadow, as she still continues to release #1 hits to this day, do ya facts check on The queen. Her current hit "Made For Now" is doing well. You gotta tune in and check it out. She hasn't lost her momentum, she just gave them new girls a chance to try to catch up, while she's still leading the way.

Probably in today's pop scene of new artists she's forgotten about but the people that grew up on her music REMEMBER what that time was like. Rhythm Nation was just the biggest breakthrough album for her. In my opinion it was waaaaay better than Control. "Alright" video when it came to the choreography and visuals will be legnedary forever. Nobody dances like that now. Nobody wants to jam and rock out like the old days.

That's because we had superstar talent back then, whether it's Prince, Michael Jackson, Madonna when she was amazing and Janet Jackson who had Jimmy Kam and Terry Lewis who were members of The Time. The music was just that great music that made U feel alive. Today's "stars" only sing about negative things like WAP or Fat Ass Lizzo there's no real talent. These people wrote it, sang it and performed like the superstars they were. Keep listening through Spotify or videos and you'll be fine.

KasHCubeD Where's your proof for that statement? Because just about everyone knows what of the hit they took once people gained the ability to share music online and burn CDs. Many labels aren't even around anymore because they couldn't adapt to the change. They've very obviously lost the control they once had. Labels used to be able to charge $20.00 for an album and there was nothing anyone could do about it. Now the average price of a standard album is about $10.00. And people have the option of spending even less money by paying to rent music. I easily could have spent hundreds of dollars a year buying CDs, now with Spotify I only have to spend roughly $120.00 each year to have access to a significant portion of all of the music out there. That's the equivalent to purchasing only 6 albums pre Napster. For many artists, selling 2 million albums was standard, and plenty of artists sold way more than that. People like Shania Twain and Alanis Morissette both sold 30 million units of a single album at one point and that was a rare feat. Now Taylor Swift has sold roughly 5 or 6 million and Adele has sold roughly 7 or 8 million and they're seen as something special. Don't get me wrong, it's successful even by old industry standards but it's that much more of a big deal when most artists are struggling to go platinum. So if you're going to make claims suggesting the industry is on the up and up you need to support them. And I haven't even touched on the fact that most people don't have to pay a dime to listen to an entire album for free. Also what company spends less money once they start making more? That's definitely not the nature of any business I've ever heard of. Most businesses make more money and then invest more in hopes of making that much more. What kind of strategy is that? Invest less earn more? Lol. It's completely counterintuitive and generally doesn't happen. This song is catchy and has good lyrics. Excellent rythm and the song draws you in and you can't help but listen to this hit song by Janet Jackson.

For my money this was Miss Jackson’s best single recording and best music video. The sheer joyful exuberance she expresses throughout, matchless and timeless. She has never looked better or sounded better. She had her troubles like all of us to be sure, but her happiness shines all over this a video, like a bright light. I mean really. It’s 2023, and we’re still listening!

I'm listening again after her documentary came out. I haven't watched this video since the song was on MTV. She was so ahead of her time. I LOVE this song and I practiced those swinging dance moves where she swings on her heels, for a long time. I had no idea she was shouting "Minneapolis" in the middle of it until years later! 😂I thought she said Lady Accolade, which doesn't make much sense 😂. I got goose bumps watching this again.

True Prince fan here. U do know that Jimmy Kam and Terry Lewis who were members of The Time and she shouts out Minneapolis on the video. They were her producers, writers and arrangers of all her classic albums! Google it.
