Great video...never thought of magazine paper...and I have a ton of old mags. I will die under an avalanche of scraps if I don't get going and this fits the bill. My son says I am the oldest hippie he knows. Also a retired art teacher, so this is greatly satisfying in all areas. Thanks for sharing.

Im a 58 year young hippie with a 20 yr old granddaughter . She swears she was at Woodstock. 😂😂 She would love a quilt like this.

My grandmother did this for what she called "crazy quilts." She used muslin fabric instead of paper or using a stabilizer. I have a box of completed squares, so I will be looking to see what I can make with them (as I already have a quilt from her).😊

Ohmygouda !!!...I spent the afternoon playing with your instructions...what fun...some of the smaller pieces I cut away will make a great middle, and it didn't bother me to toss some of the cuttings. Heavy sigh of relief...this is gonna make a heckofa piece of fabric....

If you'll start with the center piece having 5 sides, (cut one corner off to make 5 sides), it will give you a different angle of your scrappy blocks. I use the paper phonebooks that still come to my house. It's super thin. I've also done this without a paper or with an old sheet or ugly fabric. Sometimes the reverse side of fabrics will add to your fabric scrap choices. You can also use black and make stained glass look. I just found your channel, woohoo. Being able to subscribe is an honor and a blessing. Having comments for others tips is priceless. Thanks... Babs near Tombstone, AZ

I’ve been doing this for the past week. Mindless sewing and I love it! I’ve made a notebook cover and have two more on in the process of being made. I’d love to try the zippered pouch next and thought about pot holders and oversized casserole hot pads. I’m getting a great start on birthday gifts for friends. I’d love some more ides for things to make.

I personally hate removing the paper, so I prefer using fabric instead of paper ( muslin is good) or scrapping directly on a thin piece of batting. Just my preference. I love watching this process and always pick up a tip or two. Thanks!

You are so welcome. You can sew right on a stabilizer fabric, but I find that if you are joining panels together, the seams get way too bulky. If you are just making one panel, yes, sew directly onto a stabilizer fabric.

I also like to use a smaller stitch link when using paper as it perforates the paper. But better yet I use inexpensive muslin, batting scraps or ugly fabric. Thanks for your video.

Hey thanks for a new way to use scraps! Fun! But not the peeling paper off the back. I tried.. tissue paper... stabilizing paper, copy paper, parchment, EVEN PAPER TOWELS (which, BTW worked best of all the aforementioned...) -- But what worked best??? Nothing. Just joining shapes. Perfect... What fun to learn some new techniques!
