Janis is definitely worth exploring. Check out her live performance of Ball and Chain from Monterey Pop. This was when the world discovered Janis. She put her heart and soul into every song.

Some of her idols were Bessie Smith, Big Momma Thornton and others. She did have a rough time in high school. They were really mean to her back then. She said it comes through when she sings. She loved the people who came to see her in concert. She called them her friends

My favourite blues soul singer, I had the joy of discovering Janis & The Big Brother Holding Company in the 60’s. I listened to her everyday for her magic voice. I never got over her early death 💔 my heart is still broken but thankfully the world has her music to enjoy. Janis passed away at 27, as did Jimi Hendrix & Jim Morrison of The Doors also died at 27 in the same time period, it was a sad time for music fans ☮️🎸💥😢

Janis wore her soul like a blanket trying to protect her from pain, hurt, anger, & even love! This woman was one of a kind, & sadly missed by everyone who loved & understood her music ❤ 💚 💙 She truly was a gift that was only with us for a short time, but what a glorious time it was!!! Thank you for such a thoughtful reaction ❤ 💚 💙

She was amazing. This was released the year I graduated from high school, and everyone I knew was replaying it constantly. I stayed obsessed with her through the rest of her so-short life. Bless you Janis! Her voice carried so much pain and hope-- As the boys I graduated with headed off to war her voice was like a pressure release. We were so angry, so broken. Nuclear war, zero population growth, the fight for civil rights, our own country napalming babies a half-world away, river catching on fire from pollution, birds dropping dead from the sky from DDT... I don't know when people are referring to when they talk about the good old days of innocence, but it wasn't the 60's and 70's, I guarantee you that. So many greats lost in such a short time: Jimi had just died a few weeks earlier, and Jim Morrison died less than a year later: all giants, and all 27 years old. They say hard times birth brilliant music. Perhaps it's true.

Janis had a phenomenal voice and lived the blues. Sad she had to go the year after this recording. She made it big with Big Brother and the Holding Company. Piece of my Heart was probably her biggest hit.

Janis is absolutely worth exploring. Albert King called her "The Queen of the Blues". Big words from a man of that calibre. Janis was like a flash of lightning. Here for a moment, but left her Mark forever.

OKI am a 67 year old female. That thought I was the next janice joplin until I found that I can't sing😂😂😂😂 I have heard a lot of music in my life. That's my Passion and hands down you will never Ever get a female singer to compare to her ever. There's so much about her That is legendary From her car to southern comfort giving her a For coat and I read that a friend of hers from the beginning said by the time she got famous that her voice was already Half gone. From drinking and drugs. I don't think the world could stand janice joplin at full volume. The Saddest thing she ever said in my opinion. Is she just made love to 25000 people And Is going home alone😢😢 If you ever need a Good cry listen To my favorites Little girl blue live on Tom Jones and work me Lord they are sure to help.😊

This is absolutely my favorite song heard from Janice Joplin. Her voice is just awesome!! To think of where she might be today...And she was just starting to become famous. Agents followed her every where. They were amazed by her very powerful voice. They said that they had never heard a white woman sing with the voice of a black woman. Oftentimes, she didn't even use a microphone! She simply got up on the stage and just belted it with her amazing and powerful voice. She would just hop up on the stage with a big old bottle of Southern Comfort, starting belting it out, sometimes she would grab some lucky woman in the audience and dance and sing along with her. Rest in peace, Janice. You are missed.

Yes! I actually got a noti when you uploaded it!! Lol!!! I was just settling in for the evening and this pops up.... I wasn't even born yet when Janis passed, but heard her music on the radio here and there growing up. I always loved it!! Gonna watch now! EDIT: Whenever I hear Janis, I ALWAYS immediately think of Melissa Etheridge (HUGE 90's rocker with many HUGE hits!!).... she was always compared to Janis and at one point was deemed the Janis of the '90's..... PLEASE check out one of her big hits. It'll BLOW YOU AWAY...... Melissa Etheridge: "LIKE THE WAY I DO" Live at Pink Pop '94...... I'm sure some are gonna reply to this and complain about me requesting "LIVE" over "Studio". I just thought it might be fitting to do a live for her as well. It's a NO frills, PURE freaking epic performance and it sounds just as good as the studio version (IMO)!!! K, I'm gonna shut up now and watch this reaction!!! LOLOL!!! ;)

I remember hearing her voice as a 11 yr old and as a teen. So unusual. So much blues in her soul. Most thought she was black until they saw her. This was the rock time and then Janis. Lol. She was a heroin addicted. That's what took her life at 27 . Such a sad loss for the music world. There has never been anyone to compare- until I heard a gal named Beth Hart. Check her out.

I love love love your reaction to Janis. I suscribed a couple of weeks ago because you had the exact, and I mean precise reaction, to whatever song it was, it showeed that you really got it-- Oh yeah, White Rabbit! You intuited that it was from Alice In Wonderland, you got the vibe and expressed it with a genuine appreciation of the artists and the song. And here with Janis, it's just really clear that you "get" the queen of the blues. I really, really look forward to watching you watch and listen to Her "Ball And Chain, Live at Monterey Pop Festival" It will blow your mind.

Janis Joplin. I fell in love with her soul as a young teen. Just WAITING for someone like you to dig on her. Not much I don't know about her. Her voice, can't think of the word & it's extremely rare, but her voice sounds like 2 of her singing. Not all the time, here hell yes, ya gotta know her voice & she's weaved inside my soul.

She from port arthur texas like pimp c and Jimmy johnson use to bully her in high school. They were classmates. Everybody talked down in her. So years later she shows up to the high school reunion famous as fuck. Basically the Queen of Rock Roll and just shitted on everyone lol she was the first edgy chick in the music industry. On the main stream side atleast. She even inspired steven tylers sound.
