Janis is unique. No other voice will ever even get near to her. She took this beautiful song by Bee Gees, turned it inside out, and made it the lament of a desperate soul. Timeless.

I saw Janis on July 7, 1970 at the Civic Auditorium in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The ticket was a gift from my Mother on my 15th birthday. The show was then, and still is to this day one of the big thrills of my life. My Mother worked at the Holiday Inn where Janis was staying, and brought me her autograph. I asked her how she knew it was her...she told me, " I guessed by the way she was dressed, and all of the people with her, that she was somebody important." Janis was dead three months later. A bright and shining star that burned out too soon. RIP , Pearl....

Existem muitas deusas e deuses, rainhas e reis.

No one will ever come close to the talents of the great Janis Joplin. She was taken from this world far too soon. I wish I had been older in the 1960's , I would have given anything to have had the privilege of seeing her live. Her talent, guts and passion will be remembered forever. She opened so many doors for lead female vocalists. She is an extraordinary talent. She can never be forgotten or replaced. She is, and will continue to be a great inspiration. I love you Janis

The female singers of the 60’s were a special breed. Janis was one of my favorite along with a totally different style artist, Cass Elliot of The Mamas & The Papas. Both of these ladies broke the mold that society expected of them. Both were artist with great voices, who left us us all too soon. Check out the You Tube recording of Janis singing Ball & Chain at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festive where Janis made her debut. Cass was sitting in the audience watching the performance and you can tell from her response that she too was blown away. Cass went on to close the festival with the Mamas & Papas singing Dancing in the Street. So glad we have those remarkable performances.

My Dad thought that she was an amazing talent that went too soon. He said that a lot of people went before their time in the 60's. We are seeing a repeat of that in today's society. It's sad.

This is such an awesome and cool song, with Janis Joplin singing it. She gives it a lot of heart and soul. I just get goose bumps when I hear her, and watching her sing this great classic song. R.I.P. Janis Joplin

They say that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Therefore, I am the "beholder." When I watched her in one of her interviews, she mentioned why she gave every thing up for her music. Then, I looked at her beautiful piercing blue eyes, and I just felt her pain and all of her negative feelings.

Since I was away, I feel disoriented and I am trying to adjust to being home. I remember my daughter and I watched a commercial. My daughter asked me who was singing, and I told her it was Janis Joplin? I couldn't understand why Janis's song was used to sing in that commercial...

Me too. She's one of the infamous 27 club sadly. I like her because we share the same struggles. I long for the amazing music she would have gone on to make while being grateful for the music she left us with. She was a beautiful soul.
