😊Hijab is not a piece of cloth on your head by Asma Bint Shameem Hijab is not a piece of cloth on your head. It’s a way of life. Just because some of the sisters have their head covered, they think that the requirement of Hijaab is fulfilled. They don’t realize that wearing a Hijaab requires much more than just covering your head. Actually, if you think about it, Hijaab is the way you talk…..the way you walk….the very way you carry yourself. In fact, Hijaab is an attitude in itself. Its a whole way of life. Allaah says: “And say to the believing women to lower their gazes, and to guard their private parts, and not to display their beauty (zeenah) except what is apparent of it, and to extend their headcoverings (khimars) to cover their bosoms (jaybs), and not to display their beauty except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband’s fathers, or their sons, or their husband’s sons, or their brothers, or their brothers’ sons, or their sisters’ sons, or their womenfolk, or what their right hands rule (slaves), or the followers from the men who do not feel sexual desire, or the small children to whom the nakedness of women is not apparent, and not to strike their feet (on the ground) so as to make known what they hide of their adornments. And turn in repentance to Allah together, O you believers, in order that you are successful.” (Surat-un-Nur: 31). Here are some of the more common issues in light of this verse about the Hijaab. Well, my head is covered. What more do you want? If you look carefully at the ayah, it clearly states that the head covers (khumur) should be drawn over the neck slits (juyoob). Khumur is the plural of the Arabic word “khimar” which means a headcover. Juyoob is the plural of the Arabic word “jaiyb”, which refers to the neck slit (of the dress). Yet, some sisters just cover their head with something, and think they are fulfilling the rights of Hijaab, although part of their hair or body is showing, or their whole neck and chest area are exposed. Actually, that was the way of the women of Jahilliyah. Al-Qurtubi said: “Women in those days used to cover their heads with the khimar, throwing its ends upon their backs. This left the neck and the upper part of the chest bare, along with the ears. Then Allah commanded them to cover those parts with the khimar.” So secure the scarf well around your face, covering your neck/chest area, and keep those half sleeves and capri pants for your Mahrams Sorry.…tight jeans and short shirt just don’t cut it You can’t wear tight jeans and a short shirt with a piece of cloth on your head and think this is Hijaab. Nor can you wear anything else that is tight, describing the shape of the body in any way, even if it is long. The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said: “In later (generations) of my ummah there will be women who will be dressed but naked. On top of their heads (what looks) like camel humps. They will not enter into paradise or (even) get a smell of it.” (Muslim) If it is see-through, its NOT Hijaab You CANNOT use chiffon or other see through material to cover your hair and body. Everything should be covered and the color of the skin underneath should not be visible. The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) once received a thick garment as a gift. He gave it to Osamah b. Zayd, who in turn gave it to his wife. When asked by the Prophet why he did not wear it, Osamah indicated that he gave it to his wife. The Prophet then said to Osamah “ask her to use a “gholalah” under it (the garment) for I fear that it (the garment) may describe the size of her bones.” (Ahmad, Abi-Dawood) (The word gholalah in Arabic means a thick fabric worn under the dress to prevent it from describing the shape of the body). The Hijaab shouldn’t attract attention The dress should not be such that it attracts men’s attention to the woman’s beauty. Allaah clearly states “not to display their beauty (zeenah).” Yet, Subhaan Allaah, some Hijaabi sisters are dressed in such a way that they attract more attention to themselves than they would if they didn’t wear Hijaab!! How could such zeenah be concealed if the dress is designed in a way that it attracts men’s eyes to the woman? It beats the purpose of Hijaab. Allaah tells us: “And stay in your houses, and do not display yourselves like that of the times of ignorance…” [al-Ahzaab:32] What about make-up and perfume??? Wearing make up is also part of the zeenah that Allaah orders us NOT to display. So if your head and body are appropriately covered yet you are wearing bright red lipstick or dark eyeliner such that people confuse between you and a raccoon….uh sorry, that’s not Hijaab. And keep those nice fragrances for the home, between you and your husband. That’s part of Hijaab too, even if you are going to the Masjid. The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said: “Any woman who puts on perfume and passes by people so that they can smell her fragrance, is an adulteress.” (al-Nasaa’i, Tirmidhi: hasan by Albaani) Tinkling Jewelry and Jingling bracelets ‘Loud’ and tinkling anything, be it jewelry, bracelets, clip-clopping shoes, little bells on clothes, you name it, if it jingles or makes noise, it is against the principles of Hijaab, because it attracts attention to the one wearing it. That is what is meant when Allaah orders us in the above verse…“not to strike their feet (on the ground) so as to make known what they hide of their adornments.” No laughing, joking, or hanging out with non-Mahrams Some sisters assume that since they are properly covered, its okay for them to sit around and talk, laugh, joke, etc. with the men, but that’s not right, even if he is ‘the Shaikh’. Allaah says:”. . . then be not soft in speech, lest he in whose heart is a disease should be moved with desire, but speak in an honorable manner.” [al-Ahzaab:32] So talk to them when there is a specific need, and in a manner that is not necessarily rude, yet it is polite but firm. Staring at the brothers or ‘checking them out’ is NOT Hijaab Allaah orders us to “lower your gaze” in the above verse. Why? Because a single ‘look’ can say more than a thousand words. So, even if you are properly covered, keep those eyes down, conduct yourself with ‘Hayaa’, and avoid ‘fitnah’. ‘Chatting’ on the internet/phone is not part of Hijaab, either There is no such thing as “we’re just friends”. Talking to non-Mahrams is wrong even if it is through the internet or telephone. There are too many stories of illegal relationships, fornications, broken homes, extra-marital affairs and runaway brides to even mention. That is why in Islam anything that leads to haraam is also haraam. Allaah says: “Do not (even) come close to fornication, for it is an indecency, and its way is evil.” (Surah Israa:32) Be careful, even in the way you walk Remember, you are not a runway model displaying the latest fashion. Walk with modesty and hayaa and you will be respected. The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said: “There are two types of the people of Hell that I have not seen yet….women who are clothed yet naked, walking with an enticing gait…..” (Muslim). Don’t shake hands with non-Mahrams. Its part of Hijaab It is not permissible to shake hands with a non-Mahram, because the Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said: “For one of you to be stabbed in the head with an iron needle is better for him than to touch a woman who is not permissible for him.” (at-Tabaraani saheeh by al-Albaani). And no, it is not rude to refuse to shake hands with non-Muslims. Simply politely explain that its part of your religion and they are very understanding. Stay away from the men’s areas I see many sisters entering the Masjid from the men’s entrance, or standing idle in the hallways or where there is a chance of unnecessary mixing with the brothers. What for? Don’t we have a separate entrance for ourselves? Why do you think Allaah ordained the Hijaab in the first place? To avoid fitnah, by reducing temptation and separating the genders. “The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said to the women on his way out of the mosque when he saw men and women mixing together on their way home: ‘Give way (i.e., walk to the sides) as it is not appropriate for you to walk in the middle the road.’ Thereafter, women would walk so close to the wall that their dresses would get caught on it.” (Abu Dawood) Hijaab is also to conceal your sister Although some sisters wear the Hijaab themselves, they forget that they cannot talk about another sister and her beauty in front of their own husbands, brothers, etc. Remember, part of your Hijaab is to cover your sisters ‘awrah’ as well. The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said: “No woman should mix with a woman and describe her to her husband so that it is as if he can see her.” (Muslim) May Allah guide us and bless us with the TRUE understanding of His Deen. Ameen. 👍

We are reverts, having lived for more than 15 years in KSA. My wife and daughters have done extensive research. They are of the opinion that hijab is obligatory. As most reverts are, they take Islam very, very seriously. My wife started with the niqab years ago and my daughters followed suit. My adult daughters also wear eye veils and gloves, which they personally believe is necessary. They convinced my wife to also cover her face, wear an eye veil and gloves. In public they are literally covered completely in black from head to toe. No one makes them dress that way, it is their personal conviction. Mash Allah!

HIJAB is not in the Quran. Proof: Khamr is alcohol, the meaning in arabic is a drink that covers reality (Whomever drinks...his reality is covered and the person at that moment is in her/his own reality). A word with the same root is Khimar...ie COVER. So Can be a shale or a Jacket or a scarf. SO Allah SWT Says in sourah Nour Tell your wives to COVER their chest with a Cover...Thats the meaning of the verse.

@gozdea5548
@gozdea5548 4 ай бұрын
@@shihabudheenk7046 exactly, but honestly Quran does not tell us "lower" anything... you are more than welcome to pick a khimar from your drawer and put it on your chest/bossome. You can do whatever you want about your head/hair. idk, why are people obsessing using the khimar already on your head??? Also 5:9 describes body parts exposed to open and it does not change for men and women and head is included. This is an Umayyad tradition of forcing Arabic culture upon muslims and equate islam=arabic values. Quran is universal and people are more than welcome to use their traditional clothings.

The Quran is the Furqan - CRITERIA to judge between the right and the wrong - as I understand - anything coming from outside the Quran should match with the Quran - just CLAIMING this Sect/Firqa or that Firqa preachers are better is not the CRITERIA. I understand “follow the Messenger” is in the Quran Does that mean follow books written centuries later by the Firqa chiefs? Please clarify. AND Please Tell me where did Allah say that there will come great chiefs later who will give you the details that you must follow? As I understand: All that the Messenger (pbuh) said and did is according to the Quran. - all the Ayah’t/verses having the word “Qul” = “SAY” would actually be the saying of the Messenger (pbuh) The foundation of the ‘Deen’ is very clear in the Quran. Allah was not dependent on our Firqa chiefs to EXPLAIN what Allah actually meant. If all the Oceans were ink - it would not be sufficient- if Allah wanted to give more details. Following Firqa leaders blindly could be landing us in a situation like these people: //Quran 33.67 "And they shall say: O our Lord! surely we obeyed our Sadat’ana wa’Kubara’ana (our leaders and our great men) so they led us astray from the path"// Nowadays we only see them preaching their own Firqa beliefs, to get more followers in their Firqa. - one Firqa calling the other Sect/Firqa with negative remarks, Can we be part of these Sectarians? Check this Ayah/verse: //Quran 6.159 Indeed, those who have divided their religion and become sects - YOU ARE NOT WITH THEM in anything. Their affair is only to Allāh; then He will inform them about what they used to do.// Please understand- QURAN is EXPLAINED in DETAIL, FULFILLED in TRUTH, none can ALTER it. //Quran 6. 114 "Then is it other than Allāh I should seek as judge while it is He who has revealed to you the Book EXPLAINED in DETAIL?" And those to whom We gave the Scripture know that it is sent down from your Lord in truth, so never be among the doubters. 6.115. And the word of your Lord has been FULFILLED in TRUTH and in justice. NONE CAN ALTER His words, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing.// These Firqa leaders give Fatwas (Fatwa means opinion) Using Fatwa they declare Halal/Haram with their tongues- they are not allowed, check this: //Quran 16.116 Do not falsely declare with your tongues, “This is HALAL, and that is HARAM ,” ˹only˺ fabricating lies against Allah. Indeed, those who fabricate lies against Allah will never succeed.//

But the early scholars of islam were fanatics and interpreted this verse as COVER YOUR HEAD and Hair... Also the second verse "Yudnina ala Djalabibihina"...Yudnina from adna ie lower...so the meaning here is to cover the parts of the body front and back...I HAVE NO CLUE HOW SCHOLARS came to the conclusion that a woman has to wear the hijab. About Sunnah, If a hadith is contradicting the Quran is Hadith daiif (Weak). Unfortunantely there are a lot of fabricated hadiths in the sunnah...may allah forgive us!

Hair and Head are required to be covered in the Desert Sand storms - Many OTHER religious groups were ALREADY covering the head in the desert for a long long time. They got this cultural and geographic background and called it religious - they fit implied meanings to the word KHIMAR which just means COVER. Quran 24.31: “yadribna bi’Khumur’ihinna ala juyoob’ihinna” [Plurals : khumur, juyoob] Notice this part In the Quran 24.31 “… put forth the KHIMAR over the Jayb…” See the importance of : “COVER over the JAYB “ Did you notice how they SHIFTED the IMPORTANCE of Covering the Jayb? Away from the Jayb to the head and now most people think God wants a cover on the head. -- JAYB just means OPENING - like an opening in a dress, deep-neck, like shirt pocket - is a jayb To verify from the Quran check this example in //Quran 28.32 (part) “…. yadaka fee jayb’ika …”. // “… put your hand in your Jayb..” clearly a pocket or opening in the dress (or) some people translate it as chest/ bosoms coz that’s where the Jayb is.

To be honest, even if there are debates on covering the hair is not mandatory as opposed to covering the chest being more important, i will still wear the hijab because it falls nicely from my head to my chest. This is my personal conviction of wanting to be more modest because before, even with loose clothings there are still men who are attracted to me. This was when i decided oh you know what im going to cover up and remain invisible. This includes wearing muted colours

Don't think everyone is watching at you and so on, wear and just say it's my normal, I'm feeling OK within it so it has nothing to do with you. I go back and forth on it sometimes.. a think there’s a little bit of truth and justification on both sides but at the end of the day if not covering your hair was a clear sin then Allah would have made it clearly haram. And I respect a woman's personal choice of wearing whatever she likes. But this law is just so bizarre. I would like ya'll scholars to share your opinions on stringent and regressive mentality of likes of the Iranian men. Is it justified to kill a woman for not wearing a hijab properly? Because that's what Iran's government did last year. Is that not a sin? To murder a believer? I would really like to know your views.

Another verse In the Quran Surah Noor Ayat 60 - states that mature woman may be allowed to remove the covering In certain situations.. I guess if khimar is meant to cover the chest that God is allowing woman to show the chest ? Of.course not!! Clearly this is proof that Khimar is meant as head covering.. game set match! Quran quote translation: Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. As for women past child-bearing, who have no hope of marriage, it is no sin for them if they discard their (outer) clothing in such a way as not to show adornment. But to refrain is better for them. Yes controlling your speech and being humble are great things to practice, as we are heavily commanded to in Islam, but wearing the hijab is what aids (by the will and permission of The Creator and Him alone ofcourse) in the decrease of sins so men don’t feel as inclined to physically harass women that are properly covered.. stats and basic logic in general proven and have proven that women that dress modestly are far less likely to be physically harmed or harassed by men as opposed to women that don’t dress modestly. So yes, concealing negative speech or immoral things that you may generally feel inclined to do for the sake of pleasing The Creator and Him alone is highly important, but you shouldn’t negate the other legislations that He has prescribed you to do, all of which being prescribed upon you for your betterment, not His.

There is only one other option and that is Sexualisation and objectification of women. When a person’s value comes only from their sexual appeal or behaviour to the exclusion of other characteristics we have a very dangerous situation. Sexualisation and objectification cause society to view women as less capable and less intelligent, and it makes men more tolerant of sexual harassment and violence. Islam protects them from this oppressive behaviour.

˺ Tell the believing men to lower their gaze and guard their chastity. That is purer for them. Surely Allah is All-Aware of what they do. And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and guard their chastity, and not to reveal their adornments 1 except what normally appears. It doesn’t talk about a hijab. And to boil inside a black cloak or layers and layers of clothes. Al - Nur 24:31 must not expose their adornment, except that which appears thereof, and must wrap their bosoms with their shawls, and must not expose their adornment except to their husbands - 24:60) The women who are past their youth (and can no longer bear children) and do not look forward to marriage92 will incur no sin if they cast off their outer garments93 without displaying their adornment. But if they remain modest, that is still better for them. Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. Al Ahzab 33:59) O Prophet, enjoin your wives and your daughters and the believing women, to draw a part of their outer coverings around them. 110. It is likelier that they will be recognised and not molested. 111. Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful. Al Ahzab 33:53 But Allah forbade them from this, saying: O believers, do not enter the rooms of the Prophet (pbuh) without permission from the Prophet to come and eat (without waiting for the proper time) for the food to be ready, (unless permission be granted you) to come in. In all these it gives no command that women should cover their head and no hair shown and all these verses talks about modesty. It doesn’t talk about wearing a hijab 🧕 and no hair shown . Cover your heads and no hair shown is in Christianality. In the Bible - Corinthians 1 Corinthians 11:4-5 KJV Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. Understood ? And 23 scriptures in the Bible about head coverings and cloaks. Catholic nuns are in covering that’s why. They also shave their heads only some. Mother Mary and all Christian female saints were in hijab and abaya. Okay? Please don’t make a mockery of Islam by false interpretations. And Hijab is a woman’s free will No where in the Quran Allah commands of hijab a must. Muslim father or husband has no right to tell his wife or daughter, as free individuals, they may choose to or not to wear the hijab as it is only a culture and identity not a compulsory religious act. They, however must dress decently as the Qur'an has commanded by covering their bosoms and extended below the knee. But if they chose to add beyond what was required of them... It is their choice. Hijab was originally a semitic culture informed not by religion but by environment. In fact that is why in the past (and to some extent today) semite men wear the turban too to protect themselves from extreme sun heat and desert dust. When Islam came it gave out the basics in dress code for women Qur'an 24:31 "Tell the believing women.... Not to display their beauty except what is apparent thereof, and to draw their covering over their breasts...." Apparently God wants women to cover the provocative parts of their body (breasts, buttocks, thigh) in order not to arouse desire in men. But if anyone decided to cover herself from head to toe.. It is her choice but mustn’t impose it on others in the name of religion. This convert is trying to make an Islam . Why did Saudi now made it optional ? Almost all Islamic countries have made it optional. Several Muslim-majority countries have banned the burqa and Hijab in public schools and universities or government buildings, including Tunisia (since 1981, partially lifted in 2011), Turkey (gradually and partially lifted),Kosovo (since 2009), Azerbaijan (since 2010), Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. I am from Jordan. And we very well know it’s optional. Please avoid these conversations it’s mockery

@@AAMM.. she explains nothing of the kind. She merely parroted the oft-cited claim that "khimar means the head is covered" - without any elaboration whatsoever. Which is ridiculous. 'Khimar' is a noun, not an adjective + noun. It is simply a piece of cloth that just happens to be used for covering the head - nothing more, nothing less. Proof that khimar was used for things other than covering the hair is in the Tirmidhi hadith, widely graded as authentic, where a woman wrapped bread up in a khimar for The Prophet.
