I had wondered why there was the little removable bit on the front of the machine. Mystery solved. When I am piecing I prefer the HP plate and the HP foot. There’s wiggle room using the O foot, even with the guide, that I didn’t expect.

I always use the HP plate and 1/4 inch foot for piecing. It reminds me of the first machine that I learned to sew on. Thanks for this video. I learned something new about removing the stitch plate.

Thank you for your Janome M7 tutorials! I just bought mine in January and had been using the zig zag needle plate with the O presser foot with the guide for my quilt piecing. My last quilt I used the HP quarter inch foot for my piecework and just loved it! The process was so smooth. This machine has made my new hobby FUN! Now I want to muster up the courage to free motion and ruler quilt on the Janome M7. I’ve been sending out my quilts to a long arm quilter, but justified this large purchase by thinking of the money I’d save in the long run by doing this part myself. Please keep producing your tutorials. They are so incredibly valuable.👍🏼👍🏼 thank you!

Glad that you're enjoying your new M7 - it is a wonderful machine. Learning free motion and ruler quilting are just a matter of getting off on the right foot and practicing. This is a large part of what we focus on in The Quilter's Way, my online membership and this month we are wrapping up a simple pieced project where my members are learning lots of different ways to quilt it, including free motion and rulerwork. If you'd like to check out the membership, you can find the details at www.chatterboxquilts.com/mpqs.

What I want from Janome is a 1/4” foot with a guide placed for a scant 1/4” seam. This is how I became accustomed to piecing on my Featherweight and Elna (I used the same foot). Because the Janome doesn’t appear to allow me to even nudge my needle over to the right position when using the zigzag plate for a scant, my favorite set-up has become the HP plate and HP foot, and I can eyeball the scant pretty well. Thanks for the info on removing the plate manually; I had to learn that one the hard way!

I always use the HP plate and HP foot. It is such an accurate combination. I never thought of using the HP2 foot for binding, I just used my O foot. But now I will give it a try. Thanks for the great videos.

Thank you! I didn't know about the other plate to use straight stitch only, to get a perfect 1/4" seam! I'm going to try it today. I've been using the zig zag plate. I'm going for my 2nd familiarization class next week, so I'm sure I'll learn more, but I really really really appreciate your videos!!!

Thanks for the video and info. Can you, or any of your viewers tell me, what sewing machine were you using in 2004? To help jog the memory, you may remember that on Dec 26, 2004, an topplingKatrina hit New Orleans in Aug 2005. Was the Baby Lock Molly around at that time? Thanks again for the videos.

I was looking for a slap on and sew foot for an Accuquilt die cuts quarter inch, not the scant that the HP feet do so well. Found it! It’s the clear piecing foot that has only the one long guide on the right. So I can turn on my M7 and use the first straight stitch without any adjustments except for lowering stitch length…..it makes the perfect fuller quarter inch seam you need for these dies. Part #202216003…

I believe that there is but as I'm not a Janome retailer, your best bet is to contact your local dealer and inquire.

Hopefully you can answer a question for me. I’m interested to know if this Janome M7 is more user friendly to justify the price tag. I currently have a Brother PQ1500SL . After doing free motion my shoulders are.giving me a lot of issues. Would there be a substantial difference between the two machines? Any suggestions or comments would be a great help. Thanks for sharing.
@Chatterboxquilts
@Chatterboxquilts 2 жыл бұрын
There's a huge difference between these two machines starting with the fact that that Brother is a straight stitch only machine and the M7 can do all types of decorative stitches as well. I'm not able to go into more details here but the best way to compare them is to go to a dealer to see them and try them out.

Can I use the hp plate on my janome s7
@Chatterboxquilts
@Chatterboxquilts 2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure about that as I don't have the S7 model. Your local Janome retailer will be able to give you advice on that question (I'm not a Janome rep or retailer).

Mine also came with the ultra glide plate. What is that one for?
@Chatterboxquilts
@Chatterboxquilts 2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure about that as it isn't included in the machine in Canada. It sounds like it would be for use with leather and vinyl so it would be easier to move through the machine. I would contact your local Janome retailer and ask that question of them.

Can you tell me why the M7 has a USB port, is it only to update the data for the machine?
@Chatterboxquilts

That is one reason for sure. I'm not sure if there are other uses for it at this time but your Janome retailer might have further information.
