At the end you can see some of them waving at the departing flight, in a typically Japanese tradition! The song in the background is a version of "Boku no ude no naka de" (In my arms) by Kiyotaka Sugiyama. The lyrics of this love song were changed to say things like: "Fly away to a new world, spread your wings, and search for your dreams in the sky".
