From Japan, thank you all. I thought this was unusual for Japan, but it was a secondary disaster from the earthquake according to national news. JAL's aircraft burned so badly, yet everyone was safe. This is a result of their daily training. I would like to thank the crew for their efforts to send supplies to the earthquake-stricken areas. I hope they are also safe.

First Hull Loss of an A350 Japan Airlines flight JL516, an Airbus A350-941(JA13XJ), collided with a Japan Coast Guard DHC-8-315Q MPA aircraft (JA722A) on the runway at Tokyo-Haneda Airport. JL516 was landing on runway 34R when the accident happened. Video footage shows that the nosegear of the A350 collapsed after the collision. A fire erupted and spread while the A350 was evacuated on the runway. According to a Japan Airlines spokesperson, there were 367 passengers and 12 crew members on board JL516. - ASN

A Japan Coast Guard aircraft and a Japan Airlines aircraft, which were scheduled to fly to Niigata Prefecture for relief efforts following yesterday's level 7 earthquake off the coast of Ishikawa Prefecture, collided on the runway. All crew and passengers on board the JAL aircraft were able to escape, but two of the six people on board the Japan Coast Guard aircraft have already been confirmed dead, with the captain in critical condition.

Apparently 5 out of the 6 people on the coastguard plane didn’t make it, but everyone from the JAL, including both staff and passengers, evacuated safely

The fire was quite small when first seen, but firefighters were fighting it from the ground outside, and the flames started spreading slowly, then rapidly

The last serious air accident in Japan occurred on March 23rd, 2009. A FedEx plane crash landed at Narita after a bounce landing. I know this because my flight to Bali was delayed a day and so I went all the way to Narita from Tokyo and then back and then come back the next day.

Japan airlines 516 was on approach but the coast guard aircraft was about to take off but the JAL516 didnt go around and it hit the cg (coast guard aircraft)

A350 composite body is made from carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) it's burns easily.

Well, here’s the thing, nothing is fire-proof, even the material that can resist highest temperature can still melt if it’s reach it’s limit, and second, unless you can make non-flammable fuel, there is too much jet fuel in their, plus, didn’t help with kilometer long wiring inside the plane that probably will worsen the fire, plus, fire detection and fire suppression systems is already enough to mitigate an accident from fire, but who knows, maybe in the future, fire-proof plane are going to be real

Nothing is really fireproof. If there is, all the gear we firefighters wear would make us invincible while fighting fires. Look up jet fuel. They burn differently, is hotter and spread quicker than your average gasoline.

Large parts of the A350 are made of carbon fiber - it is quite clear that that can burn when it gets hot enough. But aluminum and magnesia burn well too.. and concrete planes don't fly.

Airplanes are made of composite material. Even aluminium and steel catch fire at high temperatures. Such fires are difficult to extinguish using water spray because water splits into components which further support combustion.

Clear cut runway incursion. I’m sure more information will come out as they investigate. Was the dash - eight cleared onto the runway. Did they mistakenly taxi onto the runway and got lost it’s not the first time in history this has happened.

Another disaster happened again for Japan who just had an earthquake yesterday when 2024 just came. My heart aches and hoping that everyone is safe including the passengers in the plane disaster...Praying for Japanese people that God will keep you all safe and sound ❤❤❤
