The small tables at the front desk are a great improvement as well! Allows customers to set down their bags without putting having to bend down, and without putting them on the "dirty" floor (though that floor is spotless!) - watching for subtleties that slip right by, there is so much to learn by watching those (like you) who have honed their place and process!

One detail that a Lean Newbie might not understand .... one does NOT need to purchase fancy equipment, technology, computers, robots, automation to be Lean. One first needs to identify waste and be creative in how to attack it. In fact, many people mistakenly start their lean journey by buying automation/equipment without understanding that the goal is not to eliminate labor .... but to eliminate waste from our processes. Betcha that before this hotel bought all the fancy equipment, they were providing an excellent customer experience by elminating waste from their processes.

Notice the kanban located under the sundries supplies? Elegant - not tacky .... point of use storage, visual inventory.

Difficult I suppose if we gave them a picture of you, they could match it up but I think showing a Simple ID is necessary

Thanks for this high tech hotel visit, impressed by the bench of suply on the ground floor and the automatic control of the elevator and the room with the same map, but in the end, the room seems rather chaotic 0:51, equipment everywhere, the ground cluttered, Why an extra air refresher can not it be build in the airco? illegible texts for an international audience, the switches that must be tried to know what they are used for (except bathroom door), electrical outlets not provided for international equipment (except a USB socket), in the shower the soaps are not at your fingertips, do not be able to see what is in the bottles once you have removed your glasses, although there is a vague color code, where is the towel? Mirror too low and poorly lit. I'm worried about the maid who has a lot of odstacles and corners to clean. The ice machine does not handle the unused ice cubes and the button did not work as desired. Just a name to register without presenting a passport (which can be read digitally) is not very safe (in case sinister how do management and officials who is in the hotel?) this hotel has just opened in march 2018, am curious to see how all this will support the coming and going of customers.

This is wonderful but with one flaw -- the visual cues are often in Japanese -- not icons -- which is surprising given it's a hotel for (international) guests who aren't familiar with the surrounds and often the language. I guess there's always room for improvement ;) Thank you for sharing as ever Paul!
