Japan Overnight Ferry | Only 85 USD from Hokkaido to Kyoto

Shin Nihonkai Ferry operates long-distance ferries on the Sea of Japan side. It takes 21 hours from Otaru in Hokkaido to Maizuru in Kyoto.
The cheapest fare is 11,000 JPY = 85 USD for tourist class. Japan's long-distance ferries are all clean, well-equipped, and very comfortable. So you can enjoy casual cruising comfortably even in tourist class.
I think it is a very convenient ferry for those who want to enjoy Hokkaido and Kyoto at the same time.
Unfortunately, I was hit by a bad weather this time, resulting in a significant delay. Although this does not happen often, it is recommended that you allow plenty of time to board the cruise, as cruises are subject to cancellations and delays.

I was lucky because there was a vacant room in a nearby hotel. Thanks to that, I was able to enjoy the night in Otaru😄

時期によっては、2022年に就航したばかりの「はまゆう / それいゆ」で運行されることもあります。いろいろな船を乗り比べてみるのも楽しいですよね🙂

I love how Japanese ferries provide transportation, food, and bathing facilities all for what I would consider a reasonable cost just for one night in a decent hotel.

I also love ferries that take us to our destination while we sleep. It's clean, comfortable, and reasonably priced, so we can enjoy a trip in Japan that's a little different from a tour😊

That's a huge ship, the biggest ferry I've seen a video of in Japan. Not that I'm a ferry geek.

Since there are various regulations when it exceeds 200m, there are many ferries under 200m, but this ship is 224.8m (^^)

From Maizuru to Kyoto , Also Highway bus is available. Its fare is lower than express train but a little bit higher than the local train.　However you can not connect to the bus and train.Because the ship's arraival time is too late to connect them. So you need to stay 1 night at Maizuru. Use a taxi? Or there are some hotel close to the ferry terminal. You can go there by walk.

The public bath is FREE ! Some of the ferries also have sauna and open-air bath. Of course free. Please enjoy 😊

The ferry arrived after a long delay, so there was no taxi waiting. If we call a taxi company from the port, they will pick us up. Or,,, we can also walk to the train station in about 20 minutes🙂
