Japan's Earthquake & Haneda Airport DISASTER! What Is Happening In Japan?
It's only a few days into 2024 and Japan has already faced two major disasters back to back! From the devastating earthquake to the Haneda airport plane crash, Japan has had a very rough start to the new year. This was all awful news to hear and Mathilde and I wanted to take a moment and extend our condolences to all those involved. We hope for a speedy recovery to both the residents and tourists that were impacted by these disasters. But, with all these terrible incidents happening so close together, I've been getting a lot of emails and comments from people expressing their concerns of whether Japan was still safe to travel to or not? And with all the concerned viewers, I felt compelled to release a quick video and help reassure everyone's concerns about traveling to Japan. So to answer the question of whether Japan is still safe the visit or not, the answer is obviously a big YES! For the most part that is. While these incidents are relatively isolated events, they have resurfaced some important points you should be aware of when you are planning your trip! Not only that, but we will cover a couple of updates about Hokuriku, which is home to Kanazawa city and was the region most affected by the earthquake, and go over what to expect should you decide to visit this area in the near future. I also need to add one more very important update as only a few hours ago it appears there are signs of imposters trying to post false information about the earthquake disaster on social media - so please stick around to the end for that important news.

Truly this can happen anytime, anywhere, outside of anyone's control. Therefore you should never let fear control your lives - especially to visit such a beautiful country!

Agreed. I wanted to put that at the end of the video but couldn't find an appropriate spot to squeeze this advice in. You can not experience life without some risk. Like driving a car, just because there is a chance you will get in an accident doesn't mean you will stop driving your car. If you were to do things that only had no risk of danger, you would literally be able to do nothing in life! I hope you are well and thanks for the insightful comment. Happy New Years!

This applies to any country/area on the Pacific Ring of Fire: know what to do when an earthquake strikes. Japan, Indonesia, Philippines, New Zealand, Melanesian/Pacific Islands, South America's West Coast, Mexico, California. These are prime earthquake areas. Basic rules: 1- If there are tall glass buildings, brick buildings, overhead power lines; *do not go outside*. There is a chance something may fall on you. 2- Get away from anything indoors that may fall on you including heavy appliances, shelving units. Most of these will be strapped to the wall, but you just don't know. Objects on shelves may topple so be wary. Get under a desk or table if you can. 3- If you are in a place near the sea and have trouble standing or if the quake seems to go for a long time. Grab your valuables/important documents and any battery backup quickly and head for higher ground. If you can't go up, go as far inland as you can. Have access to a radio and/or internet (a phone with FM is good for this). Evacuation time at a safe location may be 40 minutes to 2 hours so prepare for that. Safe locations may be marked with signs in some countries. Often they are not. The local people will have similar rules to those above. Watch them and if they are evacuating they will know where is safe; follow them. Thank you for reading and please, be safe on your travels.

Our heart goes out to all the people in Noto Peninsula. Our constant prayers are with them 🙏 We have a trip planned to Japan next week to Tokyo, Osaka & Kyoto. Would it be still good to come or should we postpone the trip? (In terms of safety & also the emotion of the people of Japan right now) Going through news & videos, but not really getting help on deciding this. So thought maybe you coudl help. Info on this would be really appreciated. Thank you in advance 🙏

Accidents do happen, we cannot predict them, but we can work to make sure it doesnt happen again. Please also look into what to do during earthquakes, some parts of japan see them pretty often!

Gotta be honest, when I was in japan in September I had the thought that ''I would not be surprised if an earthquake happened'', but what I am surprised by is the amount of damage that happened this time. I wouldn't say it is exactly like 2011 but just seeing the images was really saddening to see. A nice country while not being perfect like most still has a lot of historical value and interesting culture. Would've been ideal if the plates weren't so close to the country.

If this airline accident had taken place in the U.S., all passengers would’ve died. Everyone would’ve stormed the exits preventing the trained people to open them.
