Welcome back to our Japan Diaries (Episode 8). Come and explore Kiso Valley and the Nakasendo Trail with us!
In this Travel Vlog, we wanna bring you guys along with us to do a 7km walk along the Nakasendo Trail on a hot summer's day.
The legendary Nakasendo Trail is a centuries-old highway connecting Kyoto and Edo (now Tokyo). We followed in the footsteps of past travelers and were treated to a captivating blend of lush forests, charming villages, and breathtaking mountain vistas. We stopped by well-preserved post towns of Magome and Tsumago which were filled with traditional architecture and cobbled streets.
We ventured into the serene Kiso Valley on our second day here, and were immersed by its natural serenity. This part of Japan is celebrated for its stunning landscapes and cultural heritage. The Kiso Valley Trail led us through peaceful forests and soothing ambiance of the region. Along the Nakasendo Trail, we saw waterfall after waterfall - which literally transported us elsewhere. It definitely felt like we were in another world. It was fresh, captivating and very therapeutic.
We fell in love the the history that the towns surrounding Kiso Valley held. The centuries and centuries of stories enveloped in the traditional buildings, signs, and shops.
I really wish we had more time to explore this region of Japan. If I were to do our trip again, I would definitely add 3-4 more days in Nakatsugawa and Kiso Valley. If you're visiting Japan - Kiso Valley is a must see, and the Nakasendo Trail is one of the most iconic walks I've ever done. I would highly recommend!
We hope our Japan Diaries Travel Vlog Series can serve as a guide and inspiration for you if you're looking to travel to Japan soon.

Summer was really lovely! It did get super humid towards the end of our trip (aha) -- but I have a feeling every season in Japan has it's own unique charm. Winter also sounds amazing! It's on our bucket list to see the snow in Japan one day. Thank you for watching!! xx 🧡🥰💓

Oh that's awesome! We loved our stay there... Probably was one of my personal favourite places as the town was so quaint and the hotel was aesthetically simple but beautiful. Hope you guys love Nakatsugawa as much as we did!

@@the-creativenomad probably not, I'm trying to be more present instead of behind my camera and allow myself to appreciate all the beauty around me when I visit ^^
