The Matsuyama Kokura Ferry is an old night ferry, but it has a unique and very friendly atmosphere.

This video shows in a great way, how the Japanese Ferries changed over the years. The older ones seemed to be built for transport, place for cars, trucks and people with a mattress or a bed or even an own room and the chance to eat and sit. Modern ferries are more luxurious, they don't seem to be only for transport, they seemed to be all cruising ships, with beautiful entrance areas, nice restaurants, games, cinema or sky or under water animation. They changed from transport ships to places for 8 to 40 hours holiday. Thank you for sharing your experience

40 years old - it doesn't seem that long ago - but you understand now how magnificent Japanese passenger ferries have become since then. Don't take them for granted, they're beautiful.

This is such a nice channel. The Japan shown here isn’t sparkly new and super-modern, but relaxed and with more traditional presentation. That’s the Japan I love. Though sometimes I enjoy mega-modern environments too. And I struggle passing by cake in a can vending machines without buying a cake. Now you pretty much know everything about me.

古いけど味のある船で、動画からも船に対する愛を感じます💐 新しい船はすぐに用意できるけど、古い船はそうはいかない！畳でゴロゴロしながらぐだぐだお酒を呑むことが許される空間は、そうそうないですよね😁

通りすがりのフェリーマニアです。本船には1990年代関西汽船運行の頃、最初に乗船しております。本船の正式名称（登録船名）は、「フェリーくるしま」で1987年就航です。船齢40年と紹介されていますが、本船は寮船「フェリーはやとも２」（はやとも丸が既にあったので、２が付いた）と一緒の新造船でして、1982年から本船就航まで「くるしま丸」（初代のフェリーむろと）が入っていたので、その分が混同されているかと思います。最近乗っていないので分かりませんが、小倉入港後は朝寝坊サービスがあって、接岸後一度下船口を閉じて７時まで船内滞留できるのが特徴でした。逆に当時の松山観光港は別府航路などの寄港便が複数あり、バースに余裕がないので５時に全ての乗船客を揚げて沖出しが基本でした。

I know for some this ship seems old but for me it’s lovely. I wish we had over night ferry I in The USA. No matter how old this ship, they are clean, comfortable and affordable!! Love them!!

$180 USD is a little pricey for what you get. But since any other route would cost time and money, I guess it's worth it. It would be more worth it for a few more amenities that really should be present. Great Video!! Look forward to the next!

It is expensive for an overnight ferry. Otherwise, I like the nostalgic feel of this ferry. They should at least install a couple of vending machines that provide dinner and breakfast meals.

実は以前、この船便は通称「おでんフェリー」と言われてたほど､おでんの美味しい客船で､おでんを食べる事を目的に乗船する人達も居たくらいだったのに改装後､何故だか船内レストランが廃止されてしまってた｡あ〜あ､石崎汽船は何も解ってないね､残念｡
