The rainy season is here! It’s cooler and definitely wet. How do you dress for this kind of “Japanese Summer” and enjoy days that - are rain morning to night? #japan #tokyo #june

June 10 to July 20 is an on-off rainy 🌧️ season. You won’t sweat as much, and having rain gear means you can enjoy the country more without as many tourists too! Rainy gear is kind of fun but def a little restricting. The cool weather is nice compared to what you get when the sun’s out 🥵

I'm in Tokyo right now on my first trip ever. I did notice that today was the first big rain I've seen since I got here on June 5th,and it's kinda funny viewing your vid as a "current event" happening right now. Hoping it lets up a little, just long enough for me to check out a few more sites before I go back on the 27th.

In a Central Texas we have had our own monsoon season this year. Rain almost everyday from February until a week ago. More than a year’s worth of rain already. Last rain was 5 inches in 30 minutes. Temperatures are lower than normal due to the rain, but humidity is extremely high and unusual for the area.

Was in JP from June 10th-19th. On the 18th, just this Tuesday, it was raining almost the whole day and the first thing I observed was how clear the rain water is on the pavement, a very stark contrast compared to my country where it's almost chocolate-like color when the rain water hits the pavement 😆😆

Hey there my bro. Such a stark difference in weather from your last livestream and today. Just like on Oahu. In fact, here it will look like a beautiful sunny day with blue skies and will be raining at the same time. Lol. That Margherita pizza looks so good. Let me know how it tasted. I usually only get Margherita pizza from our local CPK. Are there CPK restaurants in Japan? If so wonder how the pizzas are there. Stay warm and safe my friend.

I think I would spend more money in local areas where there isn't a price disparity. We spend a LOT of time enjoying the food from the little food stalls and mom & pop shops. As a family of 7 though it is always amusing to 'pack' a small ramen shop because we fill all the seats! We did that late at night in a small ramen shop out near Shichirigahama station, and we ordered a plate of food for each of us, including the 3 year old, because we were taking the seats and we should foot the bill. Those little shops are the real food soul of Japan and I am happy to leave my money there.

Two tier pricing system is a flawed from psychological standpoint. Tourist feel ripped off or discriminated against. Smarter thing is to rise the prices to "tourist levels" and give discounts priced at current levels for anyone with residence card or Japan ID.
@onlyinjapanGO
@onlyinjapanGO 15 күн бұрын
Absolutely right, it’s more than just the pricing. No one wants to pay more for being different - they should just raise prices for everyone and give locals a point card or something. Inflation costs get passed onto the customer or small biz goes outta biz 😢
@zane812

Yes many places do this by giving a "Local" discount
@wendyon4517
@wendyon4517 15 күн бұрын
@@onlyinjapanGOYes. I mentioned this in the Himeji video. Raise prices but then give local residents a discount. Everyone has some sort of ID proving local residency... even school kids.

Has anyone bothered to ask the business owners what they think? What do they care if they're getting money from tourists vs locals? They're just trying to survive. If Japan meddles in this and says they can charge tourists more, they're going to do all they can to attract MORE tourists, not less. Which is obviously going to exacerbate the "problem".

Thanks for sharing this, John! Informative as usual. 21:42 - IMHO, there is clear reason for it. There is big war is going on in Europe (Russo-Ukrainian war), biggest since WW2, with tanks, bombs, aviation, and ballistic rocket attacks every day. It is no surprise that seeing this countris all over the globe (and JPN is no exception) raise their military spendings dramatically. Stay safe, take care, everyone, and may you and your beloved ones never know what war is!

Japanese business owners serving tourists and locals are payed in Yen no matter who is paying, so how does the exchange rate effect them? That makes no sense. The exchange rate effects the cost of supplies that are purchased from a different country, sales to other countries directly, and exchange rates effect the attractiveness of Japanese products to overseas customers. Exchange rates may effect a country's economy, but only through the Government and import/export, and through direct trade with other countries, not through business's selling to tourists.

Sausage with smoked bacon, please. 😋 Delicious. I have to go look for pizza now. And it is going to be 47 Celsius today in my desert. 🔥🥵 Today is also the start of the monsoon, but last year, we did not get any storms. Zero rain drops. So it was very hot last summer. Usually, we get crazy downpours here in the desert, and the storm cools us down. But. if it doesn't rain, then the temps sizzle. Enjoy the rain, John!
