For some reason in Japan young people don't often go to these musical events. It still is a bit of a mystery to me why, but a few of my guesses are: young people are busy with other things like work/study, they don't have a lot of opportunity to stumble upon different forms of music/entertainment. And young people might not have the same monetary freedom compared to older people. Going to live performances can be a bit expensive, and the price of these have really increased quite a bit over the last 10 or so years.
