You're talking as if Korea only came to existance in 1900 lol. Poorest in terms of ww2 war torn, post Jap. invasion etc which is only recent century or so. Balhae, Goguryeo, Baekjae, Shilla, Gaya etc go back to the old days and compare that to other civilizations and tell me if Korea was poor.

S. Korea is roughly 1/3 size of Japan and even smaller than a *single province* of China in terms of both land area and population. The fact that S. Korea can even compete this level with those two superpowers is just mind-blowing🤯

서로를 싫어한다고 해도, 누구보다 서로에게 관심이 많고, 누구보다 서로에게 많은 영향을 받는 나라들. 서로를 부정하고 싶어해도 역사적/인종적/문화적으로 관계가 너무 깊어서 벗어날 수가 없다. 솔직히 좋다고는 할 수 없지만, 동아시아가 유럽 북미와 같이 세계에서 이 정도로 발전한 지역이라는 게 자랑스럽다.

Kimchi is a side dish. Korea has over 300 type of side dishes choose from. That is being modest with the number. Also, if anyone deciding to go to Korean restaurant to eat. At least 5 or more side dishes will be served complimentary incl. Kimchi :)))

I am Chinese living aboard. after spending many years in western counties, I just realized we east asian (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) are the best people in this world: intelligent, responsible, take care of family, low crime, non-violence, respect each other in society (to old people and young kids), value education and working spirit... We share all of these in three countries. However, history split us and built up huge barriers among 3 countries, people all have negative perceptions of other countries, hate each other like no tomorrow. I don't see 3 counties (China/Japan/SKorea) can get alone any time soon.

I know that our politicians don't serve our interests but are controlled by the country that won WWII and by business people(経団連) who think that China is becoming too advanced and so they want to increase political tensions (by giving money to anti-China lobbies in Washington for example) between the western countries and China in order to at least be able to export cars, electronics, microchips etc in the USA and Europe without Chinese competition. But for me interpersonal relationships are more important than what politicians want us to do. And I'm sure that things will be better in the future as more and more people travel and see the world through the internet and stop believing what mass media tells them. 🙂

I have had the opportunity to work and interact with all three cultures. All cultures have pros and cons. The Chinese and Koreans are quite patriotic and outspoken, while the Japanese are soft-mannered, polite and reserved. If I had to pick a culture or a place to live, it would be Japan by a mile! The people are extremely polite, considerate, and kind. The quality of life, cleanliness, mannerism and safety in Japan is unmatched by almost any country.

Easy to explain the difference between China and Korean peninsula to foreigners. It is easy to explain the difference in personality/culture between "Chinese" and "S.Korean and N.Korean". Because there is almost no difference. The biggest difference is language. One more thing, the difference is whether or not there is a Tibet panda and Xishuangbanna Thai autonomous prefecture Asian elephant. The others was almost the same. Two-Korea/China and Other asian countries are completely different. Because Two Koreas is sinocentrism & confucianism/Neo-confucianism. "East asian monetary integration" is a concept from over 10 years ago, but still just a concept. Each time when the relations between China, Japan and Korea improved, regional or national emotional conflicts are provoked and all the efforts to promote cooperation became nothing.
