Each time I watch Japan play I am in love with their smooth transitions and creative play. They figured they can't go toe to toe with the Russians on the net and they absolutely found other methods to score point. What beautiful tactics.

So what pattern would you suggest, Henry? I am not sure of the total line up of their team so I don't know if they can go for something like that without sacrificing their defensive capabilities on floor.

@HenryDavidT thats why people have always sad that the middle blocker positions of Japan leave a lot to be desired, granted they have good attack coordination but not as good as USA's smashing quicks (mostly cuz of USA's great setter) and onodera and and some other MB's got good serves esp onodera's strong floaters, in terms of blocks they're not the "stuff-block" point winning kind but more of the consistent One-touch kind and as a matter of fact Ishikawa and Nishida are rather good at blocks themselves despite being shorter and having different positions

This is japanese volleyball at its best. Made adjustments, spreading the ball more. not just ishikawa and nishida killing the ball everytime. their setter is super consistant and although hes smaller, dude hustles like crazy and has a mean mean jump serve. the newer middles they have playing are confident and are just killing it!!! proud of the japnese team!!!

This is an incredible game for Japan. This should make them realize that they can beat any taller team as long as they serve strong and make super quick combinations. And boy, they made strong serves here. Congratulations, Japan.

The Russians have the height advantage but the Japanese have the skills and the attitude to win a game and they are getting stronger in every league.

Japan needs to utilize their middle spikers more, since they already have 4 very dependable wing spikers (for me) and atleast find a taller setter. As we can see height does matter in volleyball. Height plus skills would make a very strong team.

The Team A of Russia is really hard to destroy. I'm in japan side and I'm happy that they win against Russia. I know its not the strong squad of russia but still its team russia one of the weakness of Japan. Congrats 🇯🇵

this is all japan really needed, a decent middle to spread the ball and dont depend too much of nishida and ishikawa, and it seems they just got that, and they are flying
