Japan is seeing an earlier spring than usual as the blooming of cherry blossoms or sakura reached a peak on March 26, 2021. It is the earliest peak on record according to imperial documents which date back to AD812 tracking the arrival of the delicate flowers which lasts for only about a week. Many Japanese people were able to enjoy the pink-and-white blooms before the petals started falling, since the government had lifted a state of emergency in Tokyo a few days before. But hanami or flower-viewing parties beneath the blooms were still banned because of fears about the spread of Covid-19.

This was exciting at first, but now it's kind of worrying. Flowers blooming this early means that the temperature is getting warmer quicker. I live in California and it's been in the high 80s here too. If it's this hot in Spring who knows how hot it would be in summer, and climate change is really getting risky..

Yes indeed! Cherry Blossoms bloom at spring when the temperature is now warm But due to the global warming late winters are now as warm as spring making cherry blossoms to bloom early than usual Well thinking of cherry blossoms are pretty amazing thoo but to think that it is caused by climate change is pretty depressing

@@ghod2035 indeed. it’s pretty sad to know that most people don’t care about global warming and that the earth is giving us a sign/signal. The last time I was in Tokyo in early April, there were only two trees blooming and the sakura flowers were not that many though. That was the only chance I got to see sakura. I vow to be back in the near future after travels are opened up to see these blooming sakura flowers lining the walkways and parks.
