Japanese & Chinese Quality Compared

Is the quality gap between Japanese products and their Chinese-made twins a myth? The same brand should mean equal standards, right? Or is it worth paying more for the genuine article? Some people believe that Japanese-made #coffee gear is always better; others say that Chinese manufacturing has come a long way in recent years and the differences are negligible. I take a close look at the #Hario_Buono gooseneck kettle -- one example made in Japan, the other in China -- and put this question to rest.

I won't buy chinese OR japanese because their age of consent is 13 and honor protects predators from being convicted of horrible crimes like beating their wives, children, and sleeping with underage children. Japan likes to prey on 13 yr old girls, therefore, japan should no longer exist. Not to mention they STILL WON'T own up to their WW2 evil. Japan is sneaky and evil. china is incompetent and evil.

This video taught me more about working with metal than I already knew. Subliminally I had noticed some of this before, but it is really nice to have it explicitly pointed out. A trend I noticed a few years ago is that some Chinese clones are exceeding in quality the originals from the USA. I first noticed this in electronic test equipment. If a manufacturer goes too far in cutting corners, without reducing the price to the consumer, they become easy prey to Chinese clones.

I’d love to see you explore Specialita mods, like 3D printed bases that angle the grinder 25-40° like the new single doser Eureka is putting out. I’d also like to see you look at something like the DF64. Hope the health issue is mild. Best of luck. 🤝

Thanks. I will look into some of the mods as you suggest; it's a popular grinder. Funny you should mention the DF64. One of our channel regulars got one recently and had some serious build-quality issues right off the bat. I think I'll hold fire on that until I learn more. I think next I'll do the Fellow Ode -- after it gets the new burr set that's promised for this summer.

China truly offers goods in accordance with their price. They produce pricey, subpar, and inexpensive goods. The majority of products are sold from China at extremely low prices, yet after taxes, tariffs, and the substantial profit gained by middlemen and businesses The majority of products become more expensive once they reach consumers, and people underestimate China because they don't realize they are purchasing a 2-dollar item for a 20-dollar price tag while the greatest 2-dollar items are actually available in China.

Great video as always, abut I have a question about espresso machines, I have searched many, and if I'm not sure if I want to spend 400€ on a machine, should I buy a cheap one for around 150€, with a good grinder, or should I go all in, because I was going for a rok, but thinking deeply, I want to see where my money is going and a Gaggia Classic pro seems like the best option, good community and simplicity if I want to repair it, but it's still too expensive for me(around 400€), I live in Europe and I don't know why but the machines go around 90-150€ the cheapest and then jump to the 400-600€ and then to the 1000€, is there any decent machine around 250€ top(that can do large espresso,or doppio because frothing is secondary to me, but I like milk based drinks like capucchinos)???
@wiredgourmet
@wiredgourmet 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. If espresso is going to be a daily thing, then I would wait, save up and get the Gaggia; it's moddable, upgradable, and there's community support. And you can get a competent manual grinder for under 200 like the Timemore C2 or G1, or the 1Zpresso JX-Pro, or the Orphan Lido series.

As a person who has been to North America, Europe, The Middle East, and far east Asia. And been working in the supply chain for a long time, I would say Western products are so overrated, and you can get much better Chinese products for a lower price and even with better quality. It all depends on the retailer if he wants to buy cheap low-quality products he will just buy it because it is cheaper and sell it to the end consumers, however, there are expensive and high-quality products and they are all made in China, and recent study it shows that China is ahead of the rest of the world in 37 out of 44 in key technology areas which means now Chinese products are even much better, also another study by the ITIF which is an American organization it shows that China is now ahead of the USA and the rest of the world! which also means China has much better quality products than the rest of the world. BTW I am not Chinese not even an Asian at all.

There are so many choices on the market that I'm overwhelmed and I'd love to hear recommendations. Is the Hario Stick Bottle for instance any good? we cannot deny china does make "good" quality product nowadays. But we also cannot deny china quality has 2 part. Either it is really poorly made and really cheap. Or quality made that only sligtly cheaper than other quality manufacturer like japan. And we also cannot deny even those quality made item they still slack off because it just in their nature to build fast and cheaply. Their might be using quality material but they will cheap out on time and labour cost. The product come with bearable quality item but to compare with japanese they still have long way. Japanese is just to proud with their quality item, and they make sure to produce good quality product. They rather just buy from china and sell cheap than produce poor cheap quality item.
