Japan's Space One Kairos exploded on its inaugural launch as the firm tried to become the first Japanese private company to put a satellite in orbit. Kairos carried an experimental government satellite to temporarily replace intelligence satellites if they go offline.

​@@userI3I2 ...meanwhile Elon Musk privately has successfully put around 1000 satellites into orbit in 2023. 😂 Even India where half of the population has no properly working toilets has managed to do a successful launch and moon landing. Japan just sucks at rocketry at this point.

JAXA, a Japanese research institute, has successfully launched rockets, satellites, and probes many times. It is the first time that a probe has landed and returned to a celestial body other than the moon, and has also achieved the longest voyage in the world, at 2,592 days.

Its not like they have a choice, japan either has damp fields used for agriculture or mountainous terrain that you can't really cut down trees from both logistically and with the risk of increasing landslides if you do
