Japan looks like a wonderful place, but because I am a foreigner I dont think I would be welcome there and I don't think I would fit into Japanese society, so I think I will just appreciate Japan from afar. ✌

I'm almost in my 2nd year of learnin' and studyin' Japanese. I know the East Asian language is hard but I'm targetin' N5, Hiragana, and Katakana. Also, I love your Japanesw learnin' videos on KZfaq, Sayaka-sensei!😊 The reason why I'm learnin' and studyin' Japanese is that my huge, HUGE dream to go to Japan soon.❤️🇯🇵

That's great that you have carried on so far! I hope to get there as soon as possible! I have been learning Korean and since I found Sayaka I am moving towards Japanese. It just feels more natural to me! I am catching words really fast and just started! I have said that I don't want to learn to translate in my head. I want to learn to think in Japanese in the first place! So I can understand and communicate on the deepest levels! I wanted to actually move to South Korea, but I am realizing Japan may be a more fitting choice. Best fortune with your studies! 👍🏻😁

Personally, I think it's better to have the Japanese subtitles as a subtitle file as well. There are browser extensions like Lago that allow for views to quickly check vocab they don't know, but it has to be a regular subtitle not baked into the video. Plus, some may want to practice listening without having any subtitles at all on screen.

I should probably wait till I've finished watching the video, but I already heard "Sumimasen" and the rest sounded like "Oji maji maseu", I hope I got that right and I don't know what that means other than the captions (Thank you for those. lol) saying "Excuse me, Hello. (excuse my intrusion)". I was glad to be able to pick out Sumimasen and wasn't really paying attention. Hopefully listening practice won't be very difficult for me. 👍🏻😃 This is what I was talking about when I said Japanese language felt more natural to me. Listening practice was more difficult learning Korean. Even the cadence (rhythm and speed or "timing" of words) threw me off at first. I couldn't tell where one word would end and the next start. I get it now, that Korean is a syllabic language and can sound that way. You can't just go by where it sounds like gaps in the words. I am so hopeful for learning Japanese! I signed up and already got my email! 👍🏻 I hope to make a good student. Thank you again!

Why did you choose to use 大会 in the title instead of 祭り? I’m still learning the language but if this is more of a festival and less of a “convention/mass gathering” why did you choose the kanji you did? I would love to know the nuances here 😊

It used to be a competition among fireworks artists and was called “花火競技大会” (there still are some!) but nowadays, some are just casual art exhibition but the name remains as 花火大会🎉 It depends on the festival how they name it, but when we talk about fireworks, we usually go with 花火大会
