The reason why a lot of the Renegades were good guys was because in the original toy line; before Gobots even, the only bad robots were the Devil Invaders. Which were then marketed by Tonka as the Renegade Mutants.

If they dubbed this back in the 80s it would've given the transformers some competition

I enjoyed Gobots growing up, but after watching all episodes of Machine Robo, I think Tonka/Hanna-Barbara dropped the ball on SOME of the creativity of the show ( even though I still like it). Would have been great if they had made the bad guys the monster bots and the vehicle bots the good guys. Puzzler could have been a Guardian and Monsterous should have been a Renegade. They could have used Vamp and others as Monster foot soldiers like Japan did with Machine Robo. And have a transforming Monster bot like Scorp, Bladez or Pincher be the leader. Many 'what ifs', but it's just my reimagination.

2:35 and those two used to be enemies in Gobots, now they're friends in Machine Robo.

Cy-Kill is better here than in the American cartoon. Probably still Buddies with Leader-one.

A good dubbing and this would have given Transformers a run for their money back in the day.

At least this show had a clear distinction between the heroes and villains. In Revenge of Cronos, the good guys are all vehicles while the bad guys are insectoid-looking creatures. On the other hand, the Gobots didn't have a clear dividing line between them.

Machine Robo was one of my favorite cartoons. Although I also loved Gobots as kid.

Machine robo even more interesting than Transformers imo.

I never watched this growing up(mostly because I wasn't born yet) but I did grow up with Machine Robo Rescue and it was an amazing show. It could've competed with transformers if the stars aligned a little differently.

I watched Go Bots it's but didn't see this Japanese version I was robbed of a good classic.

I had no problem with GoBots but I really have an issue with the godawful designs in the GoBots cartoon. If only they've done it like this maybe GoBots may work but instead we got something and 4 years later Japan went and made the Machine Robo anime.

So the american gobots company just was like "Ooo we like him, and her, Ooo yea lets use that." And did they just roll dice on who would be the good guys and who would be bad. Even the main robos in this one got knocked down to background characters in the show n movie.

Boy, imagine Gobot looked as good as it's source material... One of the biggest problems with Gobots was the character design. Especially when it's compared to Transformers. It tried too hard to be "toy accurate" which made most of the gobots sans the main three Guardians and Renegades look unappealing compared to Transformers which took a lot of creative liberties in it's character design. I say if only Hasbro/takera decided to fully bring back the gobots and gave them all a complete transformers make over. They already sorta doing that with a few gobots, especially with the Renegade Crasher.

It feels awkward seeing Cy-kill and Screwhead being good guys. But then again even "Challenge of the Go-bots" had their own "Shattered Glass" episode where the Renegades WERE the good guys and the Guardians were bad.

What if this was adapted into being in the future and the Gaurdians and Renagades having teamed up to fight an army of rogue monster gobots and Rom and Leena are Nick's children

Even when I still enjoyed GoBots as a Hanna Barbera fan? I think I like this one too alot more than that lousy Transformers G1 no thanks to it's jerky Anti-Diaclone fanbase, I'm glad the Unicron Trilogy and Beast Wars were my introduction to Transformers even I think Dinobots are alot cooler than the Autobots. Would've been awesome to see a reboot and maybe an English Dub of this too.

Gobots was far better than 'Machine Robo' !!! because in fact they looked more '' robots '' and they didn't look so soft and smooth !!! And the voices in Japanese are a horror !!! They do not reflect that they are A.I. robots !! It is unfortunately remarkable how Horrifying they present 'Cy-Kill' in 'Machine Robo' (among others) !! Whoever prefers 'Machine Robo' I don't think they have really taken that into account and the clear difference between one and the other !!!
