Because of The Raid movie, I can't enjoy other action movie anymore. because of their slow hand-to-hand combat

@@s0meRand0m129 yes based on the movie history all fighters were trained stuntmen and fighters so each blow punch or kick was landing they took it like champs They may have used fake glass and weapons but the weapons were sometimes hard rubber or plastic so they would still hurt regardless of what they were made of the assassin is a national champion of the fighting style sylat and travels all over showing it off There were very few wire stunts in both movies Lastly the main reason i hate American action movies is cause after a punch is supposed to land they just cut to him reacting to it you never see it land so its slow and clunky and looks terrible

Karambit is actually a traditional Indonesian weapon, specifically the Minangkabau people, closely associated to Pencak Silat, although also considered traditional in Philippines. Pencak Silat btw, is the martial arts practiced by all the major characters in this film and the basis for the fight choreography.

Hi Smith, it's time to know about panchak silat it's indonesian traditional martial arts that owned karambit as a weapon from were Kali practitioners adapted. both actors are not only screen played martial artist but in real they are from the panchak silat discipline background and one of the awesome movie. nice reaction keep doing it.

The fighting style they use is called Pencak Silat, an Indonesian martial art style! They basically make use of every single part of their body to fight, which is why it's so deadly and effective! And the karambit knife they use is notoriously hard to defend and steal from an attacker as well!

@@KenMikazetotally wrong,,karambit is pure from west Sumatra (Minangkabau) Indonesia and it was spread out through the Minang people who migrate to Malaysia so karambit is not from Malaysia nor Philippines The shape of karambit is based on the traditional local Minang house roof (Rumah Gadang),,you can check it on google for the traditional Minang house or it is called Rumah Gadang

one more thing, it's invented for self defense only, not to kill. the master silat would never teach a criminals. you should have a clear mind first before they want to teach you. that's why ancient people like to meditation, it's purposely to clear their mind.

So many Silat variety in Indonesia or South east asia but the term of "Pencak Silat" (Indonesian term) Use globally such as World Pencak Silat Championship, Pencak Silat in Asian Games, Pencak Silat in Sea Games, also International Pencak Silat Federation. Silat Melayu from Malaysia also recocnized by Unesco but not as famous as Pencak Silat

When it comes to silat on the weapons side there main target is the neck, arm, legs, and of course under the arm, that’s for the karambit, when it comes to straight edge weapons they do target the same area as the karambit as well but except they go for the arm and followed by the neck, when they go for the arm is multiple stabs and followed by a nice deep slash and then the neck, they go for the arm in that way to prevent someone from grabbing the weapon or your arms/hands, it’s a scary and deadly martial art Although Silat is mostly weapons based but they do teach unarmed stuff and the attacker would have to eat hospital food just looking at the unarmed stuff is just as deadly as if they had weapons

FYI. KALI style is originated from the Kingdom of MAJAPAHIT which outhorised the lands of Indonesia in general, Malaysia, Singapore, Philipine, South Thailand and so on which is called NUSANTARA Archipelago. The Capital of Majapahit was located in East Java of Indonesia. The style of Majapahit martial art actually had 3 known styles, called ; WATU, KALI, and the other one I forgot. But those three then only remains one that still exists now in the world populerised in Philippine. The Philippines named the inheritance of Majapahit martials art as KALI MAJAPAHIT.

Salah, Kali atau biasa dikenal dengan Arnis atau juga Eskrima itu original asli dari Filipina atau FML (filipino martial arts). Kali Majapahit itu beda lagi. Jadi Kali original ama Kali Majapahit itu beda.

I'm a bit confused with the hashtag, Philippines martial art? This SILAT, from originally from Indonesia, and every south east asia have they own version. Malaysia got 1, Borneo got they own version. But i believe Indonesia got they few own version too

Indonesia don't have "few" version. In fact Indonesia has the MOST number of Silat styles in the world since it's the place of origin. Indonesia is the mainland of Silat as is China is the mainland of Kungfu. Silat is just a nickname of Pencak Silat. It originated in Indonesian islands (Java & Sumatera) and spread out across South East Asia through migration of Indonesian people in the last several centuries. In the Philippines it's adopted, adapted and became known as Kali. In Malaysia, they called it "Silat Melayu" but it's basically the same.

Kali from phillipine actually was branch of silat and still called as silat. indonesia back then on old era of empire and kingdom. there's big kingdom empire called majapahit. their region is not just indonesia i current days, but malaysia, brunei, thailand, vietnam, and philipine, this empire has close relation with china dinasty as well from ming dinasty if im not wrong. this martial art silat kali was born before majapahit era back away before majapahit this silat already born and exist on singosari kingdom. . this kingdom (majapahit) was big n strong, silat Kali is one of some martial arts for their soldier military. and some of their soldier spread to other region n in philipines the soldier teach the people in there (silat kali) n this martial art growing up in there . in indonesia silat kali blend to other silat martial art. . if you wanna know some silat on japan dojo you can watch RAW silat channel on youtube, the sensei is aussie his name's Luke. he learn silat in indonesia, malaysia, brunei, n yes he's good teacher you can see some several move n skill on his channel RAW silat

Japanese create so many famous character with the basic of martial arts from around the world.. Like : Chun-Li from China with her Kempo, Honda from Japan with his Sumo, Dhalsim from India with his Yoga, and even Sagat from Thailand got his place with his KickBoxer.. But whyyy Indonesia never got its place? Eventually the country have a good characteristic of martial arts.. Sorry, dont mean to be rude/blaming jst want to give my opinion..

Change your hastag, please. FYI the Raid 1 & 2 are movies made to promote Indonesian martial art of Pencak Silat. Most fight choreograph in Raid movies are based on this style. You see similarity with Kali because Kali is adapted from Pencak Silat, not the other way around.

Pencak Silat not only appeared in The Raid, but also in anime and manga including the animated ones One example for this martial art is Disney's Raya and the Last Dragon which also my favorite, not too brutal to see but the reason how Pencak Silat was in the film is Raya's style to fight including the stances In anime or manga like Kenichi the Mightiest Disciple is used by Raden Tidat Jihan, the prince of fictional kingdom of Tidat from Indonesia Another one example in anime or manga like Kengan Omega is used by Eighth Fang of Metsudo, namely Misasa

funny, I’ve never heard that musical score with this scene; maybe a different international version? In my opinion the original (or the original music I know of for this scene) is subtly more intense and builds to the end of the fight Also they really over emphasized the sword blade sounds with Karambits here compared to the original. Still a great scene though👍🏻

Karambit is one of traditional weapon of pencak silat, Indonesia. Pencak silat is original martial art of Indonesia. And it's not similar with the chines kungfu. It's totally different dude 😏
