That drill work was next level. Walking over players bending over to zero hesitation quick tempo marching with Tuba & percussion in interweaving patterns. I would never try to play the violin while dancing, but I am sure it isn’t easy here either. Thank you KZfaq Algorithm!

On top of that the rules of the competition are out of this world😵 No pit Instruments are allowed meaning all instruments must be carried(They put an entire drum set in a carrier) Each performance should not exceed 6 minutes or the band will be disqualified they are given 1 minute to enter and exit the field All bands are required to do a specific drill including marching around the field.

They used to do that a lot including twirling them horizontally overhead and passing from right hand to left hand behind their back....Now that they are switching to the far better & heavier brass instruments they seem to have stopped doing strange things with their Sousaphones. Just as well as I would be afraid that I would drop my Sousaphone if I tried pass it across my back 60 years ago (I always had full brass horn).

They are very entertaining but a bit of a one trick pony when it comes to competition. Amazing diversity in Japanese marching bands with both All-Japan and JMBA. Tachibana only does the first. Excellent performance. Was surprised by the quiet applause at the end. I didn't expect the awful sounds that have become popular in the US but I expected louder clapping and from more people in this audience.
@ornykrueger18663 жыл бұрын
Judging by the Japanese marching band contest I have streamed it appears that no matter how stunning the performance is there is just polite applause. I particularly love the reaction of the Tachiban members to the wild American applause when they were in the band contest in Pasadena. One time the cameraman was filming as he walked from the rear of the band to the front and the entire band had disappeared ahead of the Percussion/Sousaphone section. I was stunned because I had not heard an explosion & then l I noticed that the audience on both sides had turned orange... the entire front of the band was crouched down & fist-bumping/highfiving the little kids.
