Probably folktale written by the young brother gang. Hoori marries the hot princess, forces Hoderi to beg for mercy after which he gets to serve Hoori AND the youngest child of Hoori gets to be the legendary emperor? I think someone got the shorter stick of the rice fields inheritance and got to write angry fanfic in revenge.

I study classical history and it's super interesting how Greek culture (as well as Mesopotamian and many others) had equivalents of the Kami. Offspring of gods, (usually giants) are invariably the forefathers of royalty in every culture, usually paired with the idea there were also many minor deities running amok at the time. The idea must be absolutely prehistoric.

Actually, in one of my classes my students are doing a presentation on earthquakes in Japan and I sent them to watch your last video in which you detail that Takemikazichi is the kami who held a rock down on catfish in order to stop them from making earthquakes. :)

They're said to be keep at certain Shrine but no one know for sure. It was keep hidden, only the Emperor and the Priest who had take care of it have seen it. Even other member of the Imperial Family of Japan have never seen it. The current picture we have was revealed by one Priest back then (he was punished for revealing the picture of the Japanese Imperial Regalia)

I have read Kojiki and Nihon shoki during the last winter. Just to add some details. The blossoms princess'es name is Sakuya-hime. Also the names of the three brothers start with "hi" which means fire. And that's because of where they were born

@@Linfamy there is this anime about a guy cursed with immortality and a girl who become a goddess of wisdom for youkai called Kyoukou Suiri or In/Spectre English.. Its full of youkai and myth story as well as making reference to them. Some are famous, while other are not. in episode 12,the guy asked, "do you know about Iwanaga Hime?" (Iwanaga is the name of the girl). they explained this legend but your video give me better understanding. So, thank you. (yours also funnier)

Hoori’s kind of an A-hole. Man ended up getting a hot dragon waifu, got a dragon father in law, already has divine blood, got two special magatama which he honestly could use to outfish his brother if anything, and honestly lost the hook in the first place. But still made his brother submit to him and essentially made him poor. Talk about holding an unnecessary grudge. Oh yeah and his grandson was the first emperor

So according to the first few minutes narration, we can think about it like this "the early high chief of civilization before china became one, commanded one of the chief called jinmu to tame the unknown lands and teach them true civilization" from who? The barbarian native to the island there called the Ainu tribes and still exist today btw. From this we can divide the mythical story and make it more "make sense" historical path Theory
