This is a literal meme based on a scene from the manga 魔法陣グルグル. The original article comes from sirabee 8 years ago where they had one of the female reporters (the girl shown here) make a one off armpit riceball as a joke in response to the trending meme. The original article has since been deleted, but you can still read it on the wayback machine. Joey promoting some copy-pasta level trash post from a dodgy news site as fact is disappointing.

The point of disinfecting is so that the sweat contains as little bacteria as possible. Sweat is basically water and salt if it the armpits have been disinficted very well. Sweat stinks because the bacteria convert some type of molecule in sweat into very stinky molecules

Subsequently, many anime-style illustrations of various characters making armpit rice balls were posted on the Internet. It is unclear how it became a reality from there, but a Japanese news site called "Shirabei" published an article in 2016 about making realistic armpit onigiri for the first time. A woman on the site's editorial staff actually made them, and a male editor tasted them. It is not popular in Japan!

There is a famous South African Comedian/prankster that pretended to give people hamburger patties made by patting them under his arms, while giving them regular patties. His name is Leon Shuster, I think this was back in the 90's early 2000's. To me this just takes advantage of lonely men. I mean there will always be people to take advantage of lonely people.
